The problem with the running game and the screens is that teams just load up the box and sit on the short routes. We have to develop some sort of deep passing game to keep teams honest. Its partly a personnel issue and partly Geno connecting on his opportunities deep.
I think the problem with the running game against the Packers was that the Jets just got complacent with the play calls. Too many attempts to go right up the middle after the first few drives. Not enough of the edge-plays that force the defense to spread out some. I'm still a bit bewildered about why the Jets didn't run more option plays after the big gainer to Kerley early on. More option, less wildcat.
