Ivory & Powell will be back. Hopefully Johnson gets cut. RB isn't an immediate need but needs to be addressed. Swap our first rounder with Minn for Peterson?
Anyone that thinks we shouldn't have been wanting Mariota or Winston is such a moron. Name a single NFL team that is playing well with a Geno Smith or Michael Vick caliber QB. Even Hoyer isn't good enough to lead a team to the playoffs. The Cardinals only made it because their team and coach besides their QB are absolutely amazing. You can't win in this league without at least an average QB. If you think the solution is just to get some shitty game manager and never get a true franchise QB, you don't get how the NFL works.
You can't win without a QB. We needed a QB and now its a huge long shot to get one. I don't understand how you don't realize this.
OK so you want to lose games on purpose so you can draft an unknown quantity. How many Qbs drafted high like RG3 are pretty much out of the picture as far as their original team. Cleveland drafts Weeden and now Johnny (in the first round) and both of them aren't starting. I'll take the W today and whatever we get from it. We got Sheldon Richardson with a 12th (overall) selection and he's better than most if not all of the guys drafted in front of him.
We would have needed to trade up for a QB whether we won or lost this game. And we would need to give up multiple 1st picks to trade up, and neither of the top 2 QB's in the upcoming draft are surefire hits. It's useless to get upset about draft position anyway, just look at the the most recent year - if the Giants had lost more games last year they would have drafted Watkins over Beckham. It's a crapshoot, and sometimes picking later in the draft is a blessing in disguise.
The interesting thing about Cleveland is they took Quinn, Weeden and Manziel all with the 22nd pick. At some point they should realize 22 is just not their number.
I didn't see the game today. I had to follow it on Gamecast. But looks like Geno had (with mistakes) a very good game. Let's not be stupid and think he's the starter. But you want to see him back in training camp.
I believe we lose all the ties to the other 4 win teams, which means we will be 6th once Denver wins.
If we were picking 4th, we could have not had to trade up. Jacksonville already has Bortles and Tennessee might not take a QB, so we might have had the choice of whoever Tampa Bay decided not to pick of the top two QB's. Now, we'll have to hope Washington wants to stick with RGIII.
You need a great supporting cast that can allow a journeyman QB to operate. We can build that in the draft and maybe take a flier on someone in a later round. There's a shot Winston might fall to 6 anyhow.
So we probably don't get one of the top 2 QBs or Cooper now, which sucks. Hopefully we don't trade up or that will really, really suck.
Geno actually had a perfect passer rating. The only Qb this season that had a perfect game which is crazy to think about. Doesn't mean anything for the future, but he played quite a game.
