BTW, Jimmy Graham without Brees is a nobody. Same with Gronk. Don't get me wrong, they are awesome players, but a huge part of their success is that they have elite QBs throwing too them. A guy like that's would be wasted on a team with a shitty QB. See Jared Cook, Rob Housler, etc.
Keyshawn made Ray Lucas look good. A big strong, fast athletic target that can win the jump balls is the best thing any mediocre QB could wish for. We need Graham a lot more than Brees does.
See, I don't believe that for a second. Graham is 6-7 265 fast and athletic and gets himself open and catches anything even remotely close because of his huge wingspan. He'd make any QB look good. Same with Gronk. _
agreed, Matt Stafford has dozens of TD passes to his credit by throwing the ball up for grabs and watching Calvin come down with them in the end zone
If we make it to the SB, Idzik should put in a call to Labron James to see if he's serious about playing TE in the NFL for one game :metal::jets:
No Idzik drafted Milliner, and Smith for PR purposes. Lost Revis, Draft Milliner. Hate Sanchez, Grab Smith call him a starter. Geno was a great value pick. But forcing him right off as a viable starter was retarded. Airraid, 60% of balls to Austin and Steadman does not make an NFL starter. Now, had we drafted Richardson 9, eifert 13, Smith in the same spot, and Matthieu, we could have left last years outside Cbs in the same spot, and put a dynamic player as the slot cb, which helps negate what NE does.
I know you don't want to hear this, but his post is retarded. Sanchez beats NE wk2. And Pitt. And we are winning the division. So, how can the team by even considered not close? Smith turns it over at a rate that makes Mark look like Brinks, yet, he's five bad plays away from us leading the division. He overstates the needs. Cumberland would be more dynamic, with the guy he's familiar with, so would Hill. Imo, the deficiencies are, Milliner, and Smith not being ready for prime time. Winters has played well, so...really you need to closely evaluate Colon, but right now, if the rest of the team picked up on his nasty attitude, they'd be more effective. The CB situation would have been better off leaving Wilson and Cro out there, and drafting Matthieu in the third to play slot. With the teams we play against, he would have been a perfect complement.
We're there this year. We were down 3 week 2'...if Geno doesn't throw 3 picks, we could've won that game. Those picks were all at places where FG could have been had, or close to it. That and Pittsburgh, reverse the position in the standings. We aren't close. We are there right now. Week two the coaching staff should not have let him throw the ball in that area, after the first pick. Fuck Brady....he had no answers for our defense in either of the two games we played this season. Thats what so irritating. It's not a knock on Geno, its a knock on the GM.
I know that, and knowing that he was a teammate of Patrick Peterson, I would have traded to get ahead of Arizona. I forget who took the TEat the top of the round, but that was your likely trading partner.
11 picks plus 30 mil+ in cap room says we are somewhat close. That's a young core, with a few key FAs. The D just needs to lock down the secondary and draft a young olb. Obviously people are exaggerating, looking to replace current rookies already. Winters & Milliner are not going to be replaced, they will develop and improve over time. Geno is still a mystery, unless he shows better consistency, there will be another QB competition this off season. Simms vs Geno would be fun. To me, Cumberland plays a similar style to Gronk, Chandler & Graham. He's not as skilled, but with better QB play, him and Winslow could be a deadly combo. What this team really needs right about now is veteran leadership in the locker room. I'm happy we signed Reed, but we could use a couple more. We need to balance out the youth.
We are so close? I see a difference between on the edge of playoffs and winning Super Bowl team. Reminds me of the time when that was mentioned about my favorite baseball team. A pitcher replied "We are three players away.....The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost."
that is a very valid point but there are a number of things that could be or need to be upgraded. its not easy to fill alot of holes, i think the team is surely on the right path but it might take a little bit of time. and is very dependent upon a number of guys who are already a part of the organization continuing to grow and get better. i do think the team is headed in the right direction and couldnt be happier about the overall year thus far. i just dont want people to think oh we are a few plays away from being a real contender. thats really just not the case right now. this team can play with anyone on any day, being consistent and playing well against very good teams for a 5 or 6 game stretch would be.... well a stretch at this point.
