kind of reminds me of 2 years ago when osi umenyoira refused to acknowledge RGIII with a nick name that was not yet earned on the field. Osi referred to him as 'Bob Griffen'.

    haha maybe he was right

Sapp is a cakehole, but also was a legitimate superstar. I agree with your take on this. Richardson had a great rookie season, but we can't say much more at this piont than that he COULD become a great player.

    also on richardsons sack numbers...

he did drop back into coverage more than a few times IIRC

sounds to me like sapp is just hatin

richardson was a beast for a rookie, if he continues to develop at this rate he could be a monster. if he never gets any better, hell still be pretty damn good though.

He's right on about Strahan and he makes some valid points about Shelden. Shelden had a great rookie yar but there's still plenty of room to get a lot better.

Sapp is a dumbass. I'll never get how retired greats like him still feel the need to tear down others. Nobody is saying anything about Warren Sapp. It's universally recognized that he was a great.

Why doesn't he just enjoy that and set a good example and acknowledge other great players himself? He's an asshole.

Obviously Sheldon Richardson is no Warren Sapp. He was a damn rookie! It would take 15years of similar seasons and even then he might not be considered as good as Sapp. Everyone knows this.. Why the hell does Sapp bring himself down to have this argument? It's petty and arrogant and isn't conducive of how a HOF should act IMO.

Even his comments about Strahan are stupid and unwarranted. A little less so, because they played against each other and both had long careers, but none-the-less pretty pathetic. Nobody is comparing Sapp to Strahan anyway. Even if they were, what the hell difference does it make now that they are both retired..

Joe Montana doesn't feel the need to talk down John Elway..or Tom Brady..or like in the Sapp/Richardson feud, an Andrew Luck.. Why? because he actually has some class.

Sapp is and has always been a classless punk.

I am all for Sapp knocking Strahan, he's only getting into the Hall b/c of the sham sack record and his great post football career where everyone loves him.

Junc, theres already a whole thread where you've tried, pathetically, to make this argument with people. No need to make 2 posts in a row to bait people into having another stupid ass argument like that here.

pathetically? we aren't talking about you trying to talk football but that's what we get for fans that don't know the game, just look at overall stats and can "evaluate" players:lol:

45, I found out there's there was the 'linked' story and the full story. I hadn't gotten the full story, I only got the part where Sapp said not to prematurely give Richardson "greatest thing since sliced bread" status which I thought was reasonable. As for the draft, maybe Sapp's still remembers Jet fans chanting for him only to drop to TB, whatever. And as for Howie Long, I couldn't agree with you more. Howie Long on one hand would take shots at Gastineau's "look at me" act as if he, Long, were some strong, silent Gary Cooper type while in fact he was a conceited diva himself (e.g. that obnoxious Shick razor commercial he did).

Junc, Browning's right here. You did re-play (overplay) the 'Strahan card when it should've been at best a mild, one-time-only aside.

More to the point, let's be honest: it's Browning's use of the word "pathetic" that got your goat and what prompted you to pull out your tired ol' "you don't know football!" card. The repeated Strahan reference and "you don't know football" are needless red herrings here. This is about Sapp and Sheldon, period......and there's no need to re-bait the hook again in an attempt to draw people into an argument about Strahan.

... a PATHETIC attempt I might add......

Strahan is a hot topic right now, the man that bashed him is the topic of this post. It's all relevant but thanks again for being a fan. Do you get google alerts for every time I post?

Yeah and I also see that he made amends with his good ol' buddy, Michael Strahan,

What a fuckin joke this guy is. He's just angry that one day Sheldon Richardson could take his place on the football pyramid ;)

He's one of those guys that don't want anyone to ever be considered better than him. Not many guys in the HOF are like this. They don't get angry when someone compares a young player to them.

I like how Sheldon said that he doesn't care what Sapp says, and that he didn't ask anyone to compare him to Sapp.

Strahan was an elite pass rusher. He absolutely belongs in the HOF. One sack given to him by Favre means nothing. At worst he shares the record.

He's right about Richardson. He was an elite run stuffer but didnt generate much of a pass rush as a rookie. But coming across talking in a negative manner about a player who had an awesome rookie season is dumb. Every rookie has things they need to improve on.

an elite pass rusher has more than 6 double digit sack seasons in 15 years and Sapp is right that when Strahan was a RDE he struggled, he started putting up better #s as a LDE facing RTs. Strahan was a good/very good player. Not great, he's going in this year b/c of the sham sack record and b/c of his TV popularity.

I think it is topical, Sapp has been blasting many people this week. Should we only discuss Shelden? If I am wrong I'll move on.
