You don't know anything about how 'consistently bad' our stadium is.... And honestly, you probably don't know much about the noise at those stadiums too.

I've never gone to an away game, but my uncle travels a lot for work, and he gets to as many Jets away games as possible.....

He said the ONLY places he's been where the crowd was as passionate as at our home games, were Green Bay and Kansas City.... And when he went to Kansas City, they beat the SHIT out of us, and it was opening day, so it made sense that they would be crazy...

I've been to a lot of Jets games, and I think our fans are just as passionate as anybody else, but we've got more sense.... If the team's playing like crap, we acknowledge it, and we don't cheer unreasonably.... We're not a bunch of blind homers like a lot of other fans.. We're not going to get excited if the team doesn't deserve it...

But when the team's performing, or the game is really tight, our crowd is great.... And best of all, we're NOT screaming when the team is on offense, like so many of these 'better' fans do.... We know when to cheer and when not to....

I've been in the Meadowlands when it was absolutely electric.... The obvious ones that come to mind are Green Bay and Indy in 2002, but there's more than just that....

KC that very same year, Chad's first start.... We were a shitty team, but the crowd was out in full force that day and SCREAMING to the very end, even though we ended up losing....

Monday Night vs Tennessee in 2003.... In the midst of a 6-10 season, the stadium was only about 3/4 full.... It was still ROCKING the entire game....

Ravens in 05? I think...... The one with the Lamont Jordan INT.... In that game, our defense let us down time and time again... And the crowd didn't calm down at all until OT, even though the Ravens had dominated us and converted over and over on 3rd down the entire 2nd half....

Jacksonville in '05, when Chad and Fiedler got injured.... That game went down to the wire, and we were NOT playing well, but the crowd was great throughout that one too...

Monday Night vs Miami in 05, I think, the 41-14 Victory.... The crowd opted out early, considering we were up 41-7 early in the 4th and it was damn near midnight.... But even so, the crowd was loud and passionate throughout that one.... Even when there were only a few fans left at the end of that game, we were still loud as hell.... (Hell, I remember watching some scrub WR named Perry for the Dolphins break down into tears at the heckling of the fans late in that game... That was fun)

I've got countless other examples too..... If you're not there, you don't know.... Our players always seem to really appreciate our fans.... Wayne Chrebet sounded like he was going to sob at halftime vs Miami, when the entire stadium stayed in their seats for halftime and applauded him, and out of everyone he thanked, he only sounded genuinely grateful, when he said that he wanted to thank us, the fans.... Yeah, might have been a formality, but if you were there to hear it (oh wait, you weren't) you coul tell he meant it.....

So we've got to be doing something right...

I think a lot of those problems have to with the fact that it is the New York metropolitan area and it can take so long for people to get home, that they feel like they need to leave early to avoid the slight traffic problem in New Jersey.

    You stole my fire bro.

Yup, that was exactly what home-field advantage is supposed to look like.

Atlanta has the worst fans in the country and Miami is right behind that. Your examples aren't very good ones

It is one thing when a stadium is quiet when you are getting blown out or beat. That isn't the same as when you are beating your hated rival. It may have been better in the past in fact people in this thread have said it was better before but it is weak right now.

Yeah, it's pretty damned loud there tonight. I guess that's what happens when you do get season tickets for your favorite team, huh?

We definitely need a better effort from the folks showing up to the games. There's no doubt there. Watch a game thats played in Seattle for 1 qtr and you clearly see the difference. If people don't understand that then they don't understand football and shouldn't be going to the games.

seattle my ass, where were those great loud seahawk fans when they were in the Kingdome. The only reason that place is loud is because it was built like a cauldron of noise. Seahawk fans aren't any better or louder than jets fans, it's just that the stadium has tremendous acoustics.

Gotta disagree man. We will see what happens when Seattle struggles again, but from first hand knowledge they have amazing fans

maybe they have good fans, sure. But they were never mentioned among the loudest and craziest in the league. Just look at qwest fields capacity, only 67,000. We play in an 80,000 seat stadium and a soon to be 82,000 seat stadium. Could Seattle fans even fill a stadium that large? I doubt it.

Same with the Patriots. Gilette only seats 68,000. The patriots just don't have enough fans to fill 70,000, much less 80,000 like we do.

Larger stadium capacity doesn't equal louder stadiums

which goes to show how pathetic it is that qwest field and gillette stadium is significantly louder than the meadowlands.

neither are, especially gilette which is open air with an upper deck miles from the field. Pats crowds have always been lukewarm, and downright pathetic in the old foxboro days

listen to the crowd during the 2002 packer game, and indy playoff game. No patriot or seahawk crowd ever sounded like that ever.

Holmgren and Hasselbeck specifically credited their home crowd in their NFC Championship victory speech. Seattle is widely regarded as one of the loudest stadiums in the league, so much so that it is rumored that they pump crowd noise through the PA system.

We can discuss this forever, but if people are going to continue to believe that Jets crowds are even acceptable in terms of cheering, there will never be an agreement.

Hey guys, I just wanted to say something today.

You season ticket holders did NOT suck yesterday. Not one bit.

Actually, I was shocked to see you all cheering as long as you did.

In the first half, the stadium was insane. The noise on tv was LOUD. You guys and gals kept up your end of the bargain. Our team did not.

Plain and simple, I wanted to show my appreciation for your effort yesterday. I'd be a total hypocrite if I called you out for sitting on your hands, then let it slide when you really put in a classy effort.

BTW: I do think the noise helped the defense out a bit yesterday. Of course, we have zero offense, so it doesn't make a difference.
