Besides steal one of their best young coaches from them you mean? You know...the guy that BB was and is pissed about losing? That guy who took us to the playoffs in his first year and thats drafted (at least) 4 guys who look like they have Pro Bowl potential right now?
Thats very interesting , they grew the team through the draft. That is the way The Cowboys did it as well as the 49ers back in the day! I know it took several years for all thise picks to gel into a power house , Im not sure we have that kind of roster just yet! Maby this year we pick up the difference makers to get over the top!
The only ones considered big signings at the time of the signing was Burress (based on potential) and McKenzie (because of the size of the contract to a RT). Kawika Mitchell was the kind of signing Mangini would get raped for around here...1 year 1 million to a guy nobody seemed to really want. Pierce would also have been ripped by many here because he wasn't big name enough at the time. Fact is, the Giants...like almost every other SB team....got their stars via the draft. Osi...Tuck...Strahan...Ross...Jacobs...Bradshaw...Eli...Snee...Diehl (even though he was getting owned by Seymour in pass protection)...Smith...Toomer...Kiwanuka...Cofield...
In this very post you mention that it took years for the Cowboys and 49ers to build their teams. Same could be said for us. Rebuilding is a bitch...it feels like it takes forever and all that good stuff...but if you don't stick with it well....you'll end up like the Jets have ended up for the past 39 years. I'm "rebuilding" right now...I just had shoulder surgery and I still have at least 2 months of physical therapy before I'll be throwing a ball again....but I can't worry about how long it's going to take I just have to keep working it unil it's ready to compete again. Same way for a rebuilding franchise...the fan base needs to give it time while the coaching staff builds the team...but this is NY and that shit probably isn't gonna happen...not unless ownership really wants it to.
