maybe we should let junc and jetsin2004 share the golden cookie award to forestall any problems this year.

I'll buy that junc should at least be ahead of Jabba, he posts 20 times a year. He's a JI guy I think.

I voted for TBJ. I sort of lost interest in posting when he gave up doing the Ben Graham Threads. I hope he fires them up again when the new season starts.

Nice to hear from you Benny, you've been MIA.

As for the punting reports I think that they were priceless, especially early days, and helped give us Aussies a greater understanding of the finer points of BG's job.
I did pine for them when TBJ took a break however i think that we have moved on now and TBJ has done more than expected of him. To be honest I found the training camp reports to be the really valuable threads.

I guess you and I started as BG fans initially but now I am more into the whole team (TBJ picked Rhodes as a beast in TC and I have followed him all saeson). I would be just happy with a few lines that tells me how benny is going.

Guys... I'm sorry about the lack of BG reports.... I know you looked forward to them. I had some computer problems, then some health issues.... sometimes shit happens. I plan on picking it back up next year, despite the fact that there is some backlash against them. People seem to remember only those reports, but as I've said, I thought my best contributoons to this site were my TC reports.

That in part is why I don't want to be in this... voting. I just want to post stuff that I have fun with. That's why I'm here... well that, and I've met some great people at training camp through this site...227, Mister Moss, Kurt the Jets fan and some others... all great guys.

This particular "award" comes with baggage I'd rather not have to deal with. Let the ego maniacs roll around in the mud for it. When my writing of the BG reports makes me "less" knowledgable.... well, so be it. The BG reports seemed to have over shadowed anything else I've done here, but that doesn't mean I'm about to stop writing them.

I think message boards are a sort of community, now with a lot of Aussies in this one. I'm more about the nightowl Tom and DBJ's My son threads. And of course, Jets football. The pettiness and bickering over this voting is pretty silly, and doesn't mean much to me. I thank twinJets for going to all the trouble, but I'd just as soon not be involved, other than voting for others.

Win this award, and you'de better check that all yout I's are dotted and T's crossed, or become a target. I get enough of that already. I know who I am and what I bring. I'm good with that, and don't need validation, validation that invites sniping from small minded egotists.

I'll ask again.... please remove my name. The fact that Junc was forgotten makes it reasonable to start this voting from square one.... and without me. I would consider it a favor.

No, why would I? He won last yr, and was the one that knew all the playoff scenarios this yr exactly and explain every scenario thoroughly. He's also the guy that knows everything regarding the cap.

  8. I believe there are too many knowledgeable posters on this site to really pinpoint one person.

One of the problems is, alot of people have different kinds of knowledge. Some are great writers(227), others great jets historians(Junc, Cakes) and others are great w/ more football specific stuff (I.E. Jetsin2004 w/ the cap and TBJ w/ the kicking/punting facet).

I had come up w/ an idea that I threw around acouple years back w/ very little response, but mentioned it again during TC w/ the posters I met in TBJ, 227 and 1028, and they all seemed to like the idea.

I have no problem w/ keeping the current "Most knowledgeable poster" formula.

But why not highlight some of the interesting knowledges on this board by having some sort of "Honorary TGG front office", or something to that degree?

Granted it isn't the same head to head competition that this current formula suggests...but rather a fun way to showcase the many different perspectives some of our posters present.

Here's a raw example(no offense to anyone not mentioned/mentioned, this is just totally off the top of my head)

    TGG Cap specialist- Jetsin2004
    TGG Jets historian- NyJunc
    TGG Special teams/kicking coordinator- TBJ
    TGG Draft specialist- Green hurricane

    Etc...

    I really like this idea.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, and as Thunderbird Jet mentioned, the winner of this award is going to be a target. We saw that JetsIn2004 was a target this past year. Then again, that particular poster brought much of it on himself by bragging about how smart he was.

That's partly why I thought statjeff22 could handle this award. I don't think he'd brag. Therefore, people would probably not try to bother him too much. Still, I think there would be posters who would look to try to refute things he would say in the future.

Months ago, I was apparently thinking along the same lines as KurtTheJetsFan. There are many different knowledgeable posters who bring various things to the table. One is good with the draft, one is good with history, one is good with football Xs and Os, etc.

Instead of just voting one person as "Most Knowledgeable" why not hand out multiple awards to deserving knowledgeable posters? We could do that or the front office thing that Kurt mentioned.

Here is a quick list of some posters' chief value to the board:
    salary cap- JetsIn2004
draft- Jabba, Green Hurricane (there are probably some others I'm overlooking)
Jets history- mrjet80, winstonbiggs, nyjunc, Italian Seafood, Joe Willie White Shoes (there are probably several others we could vote on in this category)
general NFL history- Cakes (this is my main value to the board and most likely why I got nominated here)
training camp guru- ThunderbirdJet, Mister Moss
    linemen guru- KurtTheJetsFan

    etc.

We could probably come up with about a dozen different categories to form some sort of "TGG front office" which would honor multiple people.

Instead, right now we have this one award and it has led to some trouble.

Wow, who knew that this was such a dangerous award? As I said to you in a PM, Cakes, I really don't view myself as all that knowledgeable - there are plenty of people around here who know a whole lot more about football than I do. I try to make my posts reasonable and thoughtful (except occasionally in the BS Forum, of course), and I take it as a compliment if that is what is being recognized by anyone who has voted for me. One thing I do know a lot about is how to interpret data, and maybe some of the posts related to that have something to do with it as well.

Whatever might ultimately happen here, I will go on record in saying that I am not always right, will not claim any superiority over other posters in any way, and will not complain if I don't win!

I think that TGG front office idea is a winner.

    Pocket Aces

    Heres the quote:

"are you kidding me? TBJ is hardly knowledgable, much less about punting....a 10 yr old can make an accurate analysis about a punt and its effectiveness, much less a grown man

Im a college Qb, so does that mean that if i can do an accurate analysis about all Penny's TD passes and INTs then i could be considered the most knowledgable poster??? comon man...gimme a break"

Most knowledgeable poster or no most knowledgeable poster, he's an ass. Winning this award didn't make him a target, other then it stoking his ego to the point that he became even more unbearable then he already was.

Oh PLEASE...... You are the absolute worst yet most persistant Jets poster I've read in my 10 years posting on a lot of Jet boards...

Don't take it personal cuz I admire the persistance but you my friend are a Football IDIOT.

But, you're a Jets fan so, somewhere deep in there you're ok.

Again, I've had many screen names on many Jet boards and don't often have the time to be a "Big Name" or contributor and I also don't consider myself as committed to the message board thing - or at least 1 message board than some of you but... Heck, or even the Jets, some of you are insane and the rest of us benefit from some great work.

THUNDERBIRD JET is the best Jets Football poster I've come across....

I also think Jabba the Jet has great draft stuff and the names above all are pretty good.

Another guy I embarrass on this site b/c he lacks football knowledge. You contribute nothing to this site outside of being such a big fan of mine that you wind up stalking me alot.

It's not stalking - You just happen to post A LOT and be in most of the posts I read and you were dead wrong and went down with the Herm Edwards ship, kicking, screaming and fighting it to the end. I don't spend a lot of time here -Maybe I get a chance a few days a week to pop in on a few threads, I don't claim to be a contributor.

You happen to be the Only Jets poster I've ever read that I completely disagree with and that I feel has no grasp for what a good Coach and front office should bring to the table and what it takes to build a Championship... AND you'll never give in.

Again, I admire the persistance and time you spend trying to convince people but, damn sometimes just step back and look at the big picture and admit that you can be WRONG.

I know a good poster when I read it and Thunderbird and Jabba Always bring the Info.... I don't see guys like that debating ad nauseum just to "prove a point"... They bring the Info and let it stand on it's own....No spinning and twisting to fit some agenda.

You are way too Thick headed and unwilling to understand other points of view to be considered a good poster.

I understand other poitns, i accept them if they are valid. I admit I have been wrong at times in the past it's just not often and I have never been proven wrong by you which is why you are irritated w/ me. I wouldn't even know who you were if you didn't aleways stalk me and get humiliated in discussions during the stalkings.
