Why don't we let Rob Ryan decide?

If you watch Vilma, he's way too aggressive to play as a 3-4 ILB. He would constantly overshoot and run past running backs. The 4-3 allows Vilma to roam without much interference (with the extra lineman), and it allows him to be more aggresive since he isn't responsible for a gap: it's just read the play and react. The 3-4 requires gap coverage, patience, and good instincts. Vilma is undersized and get's mauled by lineman. It also doesn't help that he's over-aggresive.

I don't know, we have guys standing up and running around all over a lot of the time. It's not like guys have the same job on every play. If you're a good player you're a good player. Joe Klecko made the Pro Bowl in the 4-3, then blew out a knee, came back and made the Pro Bowl in the 3-4. A scheme doesn't necessarily make or break a player if he's that good.

I dont understand why alot fo you gusy/gals say "We better not spend money on Samuel, Revis is looking real good." There are two sides to the field. We need another good cornerback. That is not wasted money. Mediocre teams are happy with one good corner and just try toplug in other guys that ned up getting victimized. Great teams have good players on both sides.

What a bad year for Miller to get hurt...all the TC reports were showing that he finally might be ready to contribute as a starting corner and between him and Revis we might have a nice solid duo to work with in the future. Now there is no telling how he will bounce back from his injury. If he is the near the athletic ability that he was before being injured the Jets will probably just try him at CB again; I think he deserves a chance to bounce back and play at the position in which he was drafted.

... I think it's already been posted in other threads, Vilma will not be traded this off season because he will not be able to pass a physical and no team in their right mind will take that chance. So we (fortunately) are stuck with Vilma next season, how we use him, will be the real mystery!!

I like miller at safety actually, he would just have to take the move seriously and watch alot of tape.. Maybe hang out with rhodes some, pick his brain... Come to think of it, I would LOVE to see miller at safety has to be easier the corner, No ?

Vilma needs to go. MLB and ILB are two very different positions. Vilma was an undersized 4/3 MLB to begin with and he sucks as an ILB AND he is too small to play anything but S in our scheme. It is a waste of his talent and our time/money to keep him. Let the guy be an all pro in someones 4/3 where he belongs.

As to Miller. I would mind seeing him at saftey but he has not yet proven that he has the mental focus to be on the football field as a starter, but worth the experiment while he is still low cost.
