I don't think there is any chance we can get a 1st for Vilma after his two crappy seasons and bum knee. I think we are looking at a 2nd or 3rd round pick.
The J-E-T-S finally get a player they can hang their hat on. Now he could be leaving. Not a Good time. I'm bias. What do you think JetsLookingforDware?
I don't know if he is going to get traded. I don't think that anyone is going to offer even a 3rd round pick much less a long term deal. Remember he is coming off a knee injury and hasn't had good seasons the last 2 years. I know he was a good player in the 4-3, but I think teams are going to play hardball because they think he will be cut.
Well he hasnt exactly been awful. He racked up over 100 tackles 2 years ago, made his share of plays and as always was great in coverage. last year he was on his way to over 100 tackles and again was great in coverage. Granted he wasn't playing up to his potential but he was still productive in a scheme he doesnt fit into. The knee injury is a concern...but theere are alot of teams out there who badly need a cover 2, speedy MLB who don't exactly have the most wise FO's(namely Cincy and Washington). A high 2nd, low first is a possibility.
He doesn't fit the 3-4. He'll be great for a 4-3 team though. We'll recover...it's not like finding an ILB is hard it's more that it would suck to see him go.
We will have the fun of complaining again next year when he becomes an All-Pro. Unfortunately he is a 4-3 Lb.
Honestly, what does everyone think the value of a banged up Vilma is? If we don't get at least a early 3, I say we sit on him
If Hall from the Falcons could be worth the Giants first overall pick, then Vilma should be worth a late first or an early second and nothing less. If we give him up, there is no way we walk out of the trade with anything shy of that. He's a starting MLB in a 4-3 scheme who will be in playing condition by summer camp. His play went down after we switched to a scheme he isn't fit to play in, so his value should still be very high. This is to say nothing of the fact that he is a lockerroom leader that teams would love to get a hold of.
It had to be done....it was a shrewd move but we all know he isn't an ideal fit for this system and he would have left for greener pastures once his contract expired. Guess all we can do is hope for a decent deal. still, i hate to see him go.
Easily my most favorite player in the Jets... This sucks initially because of course I want to see what he can do next to David Harris... But tomorrow if the Jets trade and the trade is logical, then I'll be with it. The man just isn't a 3-4 ILB and with his knee concern, it's hard to envision him having that rookie campaign he had ever again in green.
Moss would go pretty well with Coles and Cotchery. He don't need a big receiver as much as we need a speedy play maker that can complement the guys we have now that can make plays across the middle of the field.
This really saddens me. In 2005, after the Steeler's fiasco, we were ready to be superbowl contenders. Now two years later we are letting go our best player from then. He was on his way to becoming one of the best MLBs in football. Now we're getting rid of him like he's trash.
With the emergence of David Harris he is completely expendable. He has not made a big play in 3 years and does not fit the system. If we can get a decent player in return or a 3rd or 2nd (highway robbery) then by all means lets do it.
