I have proven through the years that I know more than pretty much anyone here when it comes to QBs. The fact that you think I don't know anything is a compliment coming from you. TB-ok for 1st game is mediocre, right? @NE-how do you have a decent outing throwing 3 INTs in a 3 pt game in the 4th qtr? Buf-he was ok vs. Buf, kept buf in that game. NE-he threw a pick 6 vs. NE, if our D doesn't score a TD we don't win. when it came time to win game team took ball out of his hands and ran it every play.
No, ok for a first game means that he was ok for a first game considering that he was a rookie. For 3 1/2 quarters Geno was having a decent game until he threw 3 picks at the end. One was a bad decision and the last two was him chucking it trying to make a play. It was a bad ending to what looked like a decent game. A man like yourself that loves to put things in "context" should understand that right? He had a good game against the Bills, what hurt us was those stupid penalties those refs kept calling. Geno had a good game against NE, unless your argument is that anyone that throws pick 6's automatically can't still have a good game.
he kept TB in the game, he was ok. it wasn't 3 1/2 qtrs., I thought he did really well not turning it over through 3 but in a 3 pt game when you throw 3 picks in the 4th qtr including one already in FG range that makes the game a bad one. It wasn't Ten or Cicy bad but it was bad. he was decent against Buf. you can have a good game overcoming a pick 6 but if our D doesn't score a TD we don't get to OT and when we needed to win it he was handing the ball off. we settled for a 50+ yd FG b/c they were afraid to let Geno throw.
I called this move months back and it actually makes sense. Hes exactly what you want to come in. Not a qb who you know is just not goibg to push geno. Vick wants to play and can push Geno. I don't know why so many peole are down on this if it happens. Its ideal and in a sense thr offensive plab doesnt have to change with designed runs if genos out for whatever reason. I don't think that way, IMO you have a myopic view of things. When it's Sanchez (you blame other factors outside of him) when it's Geno you do the opposite. These last few posts proves it. You don't have the same emotional connection to Geno, so you judge him based on whatever standard you use to judge QB's. If Sanchez played like Geno in against the Bucs you'd make excuses.
If our D blew games late for Geno I'd say so. Had we lost in Atlanta I would have blamed the D, had we blown the Buf game I would have blamed the D. I judge all fairly and equally. I like Geno, not 100% sold YET but I like him.
I'm not sold on him either but as far as I can see, you seem much harsher on Geno's rookie season than you are on Sanchez rookie season.
mark's rookie season ended w/ us a half away from the SB. mark had awful moments but they were isolated to 4-5 games. Most of the season he was good. That's not the case for Geno.
No, you're right we were close to the SB. But Mark was horrible consistently throughout that season. And no it wasn't isolated to 4-5 games that's just silly.
it was isolated to about 4 games. Take out those games and his #s are pretty good. @Hou- good NE- good Ten- good @NO- awful @ Mia- good Buf- awful @ Oak- decent Mia- good jax- good @ NE- bad Car- good @ Buf- started out fine got hurt and left game Atl- bad Ind- ok Cin- ok @Cin- great @ SD- really good @ Indy- decent
I would assume Geno. He has every right to keep it. He's a second year guy who started last year and is potentially the franchise guy. Vick is a free agent coming in to battle for the starting position. My guess would be that Vick takes another number. If I were Geno, i wouldn't give that shit up. Especially to a guy who is coming in to fight for your job.
If Geno had 3-4-5 really bad games and was good otherwise I'd say so. he has consistently bad most of the season, his first good stretch of football came in the last qtr. I was thrilled w/ the way he ended but most of the season was bad.
11 is stretching it considering that they ran more than they threw in the majority of Sanchez rookie season but ok I guess.
^^^ Browning directed his assessment about "QB acumen" to you and you alone. Browning did not say "compared to others here, you know nothing about QB, etc." ^^^^ Now there's where you and your runaway ego screwed up. In your reply to Browning, you needlessly dragged "pretty much anyone here" into the conversation. You could just as easily responded-in-kind by contesting Browning's contention directly, on a one-to-one basis, e.g. "I've proven I know a lot about the QB position-period" and left it at that. But no, that wasn't enough......you had to take it a step further with your "everybody else" scattershot approach. You're going to do what you want to do anyway so it's water off a duck's back as far as I'm concerned but I thought your response needed to be shown in context for what it was and for you to maybe take a 2nd look at it. Lastly, while I know you follow the game and are passionate in your views, at the same time, considering your "better than all others!" declaration above, it gives me greater amusement when I read some of your other quotes particularly this one that you addressed to JStokes in the 'college hoops' thread: *smile* ...... um ok, whatever you say..... All that aside, calm down already -- this is only a thread about an over-the-hill, injury prone (at this stage of his career) QB. More to the point: Rex & MM wanted Geno to use his feet more down the stretch last year? Hmmm, now just how would that tact play out with the Vickster's soon-to-be 34 year old frame?
welcome back Joe! here to derail yet another thread over your obsession w/ me. who am I trying to impress?
