Our offensive line was as bad as I have ever seen it since I have been a fan (1996-1997) and Adrian Jones was a starter on the atrocius oline. He played average to above average in some games, but others our oline just didn't have a clue and he was a part of that. People claim over and over again that he just kept getting better and better especially late in the season. Well in my opinion that is just horse shit because in week 15 against Miami he got beat up by Jason Taylor. Yeah I know Jason Taylor is one of the better DE's, but if Adrian was as good as advertised, why did he give up 2-3 sacks and be included in the countless times Brooks Bollinger got smacked? I have said before I think Adrian Jones is and will always be a average LT. I think that the LT is too important of a position to have an average player. Did I like Adrian Jones before the 2004 season started? Yes, I thought he had some potential, but the guy didn't show me any flashes of dominance therefore I don't see the reason to pass up on a potentially dominating pass blocker in D'Brickashaw Ferguson. Will I be pissed off if Adrian Jones is our starter next year? No, but I still think the position needs an upgrade. I don't think my opinion or your opinion is 100% correct, but if am being honest, I have always felt Adrian Jones was a very overrated player and I never understood where the hype came from...
Dude don't be a dick...I reworded that When I said no reason at all...I meant that he was hyped for no reason at all. I stated my case and all you could do is make fun of a typo. Nice reply
I'd love to have Davis, but we NEED D-Brick alittle more. We have to draft D-Brick, it would be our best move by far.
There is plenty of Oline talent later in the draft......Tell me where you are goin gto find talent like Davis later in the draft??? Aint gonna happen! We need to take these opportunities when they come. Later rounds will provide the talent to rebuild our line.
really...who?? joel dreesen? you're going to compare him to Vernon Davis...are you serious?? i'm sure the Defensive Coordinators in the NFL will be gameplanning on how to stop Chris Baker and Joel Dreesen.
I honestly don't think there is a single better OT in the draft as far as pass protection goes than D'Brick... D'Brick will be the BAP and will fill a big need and an important positon...
There's just something intrinsically wrong with replacing your most promising lineman with your first pick. It's like a doctor treating his patient's ingrown toenail before tending to his bullet wound.
Brandon Moore played RG in 2004 when we had one of the best in the business...he and Pete Kendall are our best olineman. I have seen results from those guys.
V Davis will be our pick at #4. He is the second best offensive weapon in the draft. We can address our OT needs at the end of round 1 by trading up using our 3rd round pick if needed. I really feel the Jets have done a great job playing poker in this draft process. No one can figure out what we are going to do. Shottenheimer is our OC and knows how important a dominant TE/H Back can mean to an offense.
I'm not worried about Brandon Moore, but Kendall concerns me. I know last year he was in a new system and was shuffled around, but he seems like he's on the decline. Oh, and who's going to play RT?
Hell BOTH Moore and Kendall concern me. I say we draft a guy like MJ Gilles in the 2nd rd and let him battle either of em for the start...loser of the 3 way race can ride the bench, whoever it may be
I'm really warming up to the idea of drafting Davis at #4. At first I thought it may be a bit of a reach, but after reading what seems to have been about a hundred different mock drafts that have SF taking him at #6 it really isn't a reach at all. I'd most like to have M.Williams at that spot, but I'd be very happy with Davis too. Ferguson would be a safe pick in that it would most definitely be supported by the draft gurus where as the Davis pick may be highly criticisized. I trhink both are good picks but the reason I lean toward Davis here is that I really believe the seperation in talent between OT's in this draft is far less than the seperation between Davis and the next best TE, if not reciever. The potential for mismatches is very exciting. I think alot of people here don't realize that this could be more of a help to our qb situation than drafting a high profile LT. It completely changes the complexion of the offense.
So what some people are saying is that if we draft D'Brick and start him right away he can shut down the likes of Jason Taylor in his first year? Without even seeing him play at the NFL level? While I do think Ferguson is an upgrade to AJ picking him is very conservative and we would be passing up on some serious talent at the skill and defensive positions. I think the FO did a good job with the FA signings and are comfortable with their players and if there was no draft at all they could play with what they have...yes even the awful O-line that we have right now. They're going to go out and get their playmaker to make things happen and try to upgrade a skill position first. I think we're going to make a slight attempt on trading up for Bush and when that falls through our backup plan is V. Davis. You know Schotty would like to have both!
And there no chance, NONE, that this Davis is going to be a bust? We already have three TEs on the roster, two of whom can start.
