I heard one of my professors saying that Cornell did a poor job of showing their place to the Jets and also it looks bad that an IVY league school would host an NFL team. I dont get the 2nd thing, but it is what it is.
Actually, a lot of people do have a "dime" invested in this team. They have season tickets and they want to get the opportunity to see their team practice. Also, you don't need to have anything invested to complain about the team. Read the Jets forum every day. If we have to read the same arguments about Cutler every single frickin day I don't see the problem with having a thread complaining about the teams training camp. It doesn't negate the fact that they built it but it is still absurd that they aren't going to use it.
Where will the Jets be practicing this season? What's preventing people from driving to see it if they're that interested in it? So if I have season tickets and live in upstate Ny, then it's justified that they move camp right? I don't mind people bitching about the team. We wouldn't be Jets fans if we weren't bitching. But some of, not all, these people are acting like Woody just walked into there house and fucked there mother. If it's that serious to you, find a new hobby. In the words of A. Iverson; "Practice?! Practice?! We're talking about practice....not a game, not a game....practice."
For me, it's being in school down in Baltimore that is preventing me from seeing them practice there. My point was that people do have money invested in the team and it sucks for the people on Long Island who got the team taken out from under them. There were tons of threads and complaints on that when people found out that was happening and it was justified. I just don't think the move makes any sense based on the reasons they are giving for doing it.
we are talking about fans that have been going for a long time in that area, as well as the mass majority of the fans being in that area. Its good for fans like you to go down and see them, but 90+% of us are here in the metro area, and we are the ones who have to drive the hours on end to see it. If Ryan wants to do it as a team building exercise thats not a big deal to me, but if that measure was taken because the Jets realized their mistake in not accomodating fans then its an embarrassment on the organization.
I agree that there isn't a "strong" fan base in upstate Ny. But this would obviously help that. Most people feel obligated to be Bills fans since the Jets and Giants have no ties to Upstate Ny (Albany isn't upstate Ny, no matter what they think." Again, I don't think this is the end of the world. It is what it is.If RR wants to take the team away to get there minds right, I have no problem with that.
Totally agree, I hate USNY it is absolutely horrible. It is over-run with arrogant bills fans who are flat out dickheads. the best part is, that in a few years, the Bills will be in Canada, so these assholes won't have to bitch about woe-is-me the bills always suck and blah-blah-blah. Plus if the Jets come to camp in Upstate, then if it converts a few fans, I would finally have a fellow jets fan to converse with in person. Plus it could be the start of a way to convert the girlfriend into the life-long torture of being a Jets fan!
I stated it in on here earlier, but I'll say it again. People don't realize how bad it is up here. You will find a Texans jersey before you'll find a Jets one. USNY needs a NYJ injection.
it really doesnt need a jets injection. no more than western pennsylvania needs a jets injection. the jets are not an upstate team, they do not get shown on tv upstate and there really is no point in getting even 5k new fans that wont be able to watch more than 4 games this year. i would have suggested one of the schools in lower ct central ct, yale or u new haven but the fact is that the patsies are the team shown on cbs in the new haven area so there is NO reason to do it. unless of course its really about them getting away and growing as a team, but then they should go somewhere and not let anybody in. (can they even do that?)
Fuck ucon or yale. They should use Skidmore because Saratoga Jumps all summer and its close to the track. TC in the Mornings, Horses in the afternoon. Or better yet just use the infield area at the track itself.
shoulda said southern, i agree salaam fuck those locations. although it would make it a half hour trip for me it wouldnt make any sense to the franchise. if they want to really go out in the middle of nowhere they could go to uconn. there is absofuckinlutely nothing out there.
My hometown is in the mix... i'll die http://www.9wsyr.com/sports/story/U...he-Jets-to-campus/fZD7Ln0dC0SxrHSKEH5vcQ.cspx Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – It appears Utica College is the latest upstate New York school who would like the see the New York Jets on campus. Following a meeting Friday with Utica College President Dr. Todd Hutton and representatives of the college’s athletic programs, Assemblywoman RoAnn M. Destito wrote to New York Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan, asking him to consider Utica College as the site for its summer training facility. “The New York Jets are actively scouting for a new site for part, or all of their summer training camp,” Destito said in a news release. “Recently, the Jets organization scouted several upstate colleges, and I have written to their head coach asking his staff to visit Utica College.” The Jets have already toured SUNY Cortland in Cortland, and reportedly Cornell University in Ithaca and Ithaca College. In her letter to Ryan, Destito said the campus is convenient to the New York State Thruway; Amtrak and bus transportation; major commercial airports in Syracuse and Albany, and the Griffiss International Airport. Why don't you just come clean and admit to the whole charade? Or are we supposed to believe that sitting there in Denmark, you actually know and care where SBU is located etc, etc? It's really more annoying now than anything else. I suppose that you keep with it in the hopes that there's still one fool on this site who believes that you're a chick, dude...
