^ I am pretty sure I read in the Ledger that Coles was OK, but Houston was getting an MRI today. That's all I have heard.
Not sure what they showed on TV but being at the game I can reiterate what a few others have said. When Houston came off the field he couldn't put any weight on the leg at all. I'd be very surprised if he is ready this week. After the last play of the game, Coles laid on the field for a good five minutes; I don't even think many of his teammates realized he was hurt. But luckily he did get up and walked off by himself. My fingers are crossed that he is okay, knowing his toughness it would take a lot to keep him off the field next week....
Here is to hoping Houston is alright. He has good size speed ration. I think he can be our back of the future. It willl be nice to see what this kid has.
Houston knee injury update http://www.silive.com/sports/advance/index.ssf?/base/Sports/115979512568850.xml&coll=1 EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Running back Cedric Houston suffered what is believed to be a hyperextended left knee late in the third quarter of yesterday's 31-28 loss to the Colts at Giants Stadium and will undergo an MRI today, according to someone with knowledge of his medical status. That person requested anonymity because of the Jets' policy of not releasing injury information. It's unclear how long Houston will be sidelined. Advertisement Houston, a second-year pro, was hurt when he was hit by Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney on a third-and-goal from the 2-yard line. He lay on the field several minutes before he was helped to the sidelines and then carted into the locker room. He was unable to put any pressure on the knee. Despite leaving early, the hard-running Houston still finished as the Jets' leading rusher with 49 yards on 12 carries. After being inactive for the first two games, he appeared to be on his way to challenging Kevan Barlow for the starting job.
He's a good option for us instead of Blaylock: I was surprised Houston was inactive for the first couple of regular season games, as he lit it up in the last pre-season game, and Mangini selects on performance. Still he had his chance and has proven his worth, hopefully the injury isn't serious.
Unfortunately in most "hyperextended" situations it's a ACL. Let 's hope this is the case otherwise we've lost our best option at RB
I read this in the paper this morning. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/jets/story/457560p-385109c.html *It has a bunch of notes on the game, but I'll post the Coles/Houston update for those who don't feel like clicking the link* About Houston... About Coles
I don't know what to believe. The Daily News said he had a brace on his knee and was walking off with cruches, yet Mangini had no comment on an update.
Well if it's a hyperextension with no muscle and ligament damage...can't he come back right away? or at least in a week?
If its just hyperextended he could be back in 2-4 weeks. If anything is ripped torn or broken then he is done for the year.
Both listed as QUESTIONABLE for the Jaguars game, so Houston must be in better shape than people think.
That can change since it's still early in the week. But I'm glad to see Houstons injury is not that serious.
