That's not ringing a bell yet but then again I'm pretty senile. Speaking again of another little white guy UDFA, what about Danny Woodhead? Wasn't given much of a chance with us after he blew out his knee but over the 2013 and 2015 seasons with the Chargers, (he hardly played at all in 2014 due to injuries) he compiled almost 2200 total yards rushing and receiving and 17 total TDs. He was a nifty situational player with the Patriots before that where he also amassed almost 2200 yds in rushing and receiving and 14 total TDs during his three years there....
Would have liked to have seen Archer stick. But I'll just take that to mean, they think they have a better, cheaper return man. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
very detailed breakdown of Jalin Marshall.. http://nfldraftreport.sportsblog.co...rades-the-new-york-jets-are-looking-for-.html extremely versatile athlete, albeit still refining his route running. former High school QB, has played every WR position, PR, KR, HB, H-back, wildcat QB, and special teams coverage units. I think he has very good odds of making this team as PR and Gunner, and maybe can eventually grow into an offensive role player. Most interesting UDFA signing to keep an eye on imo... If we end up improving Punter, Punt Returner and coverage with late round draft/UDFA signings, that would be huge. Would love to hear Westhoff's take on some of these new additions.
I like Marshall and I think he can play in the NFL but I don't think he will stick here. We'll see. He reminds me a lot of Julian Edelman in terms of his size and diverse skill set, when he came into the league. Edelman became a good receiver though because of his outstanding route running. To suggest Marshall could get there is a long shot and it even took Edelman himself 4 years in this league to develop that. I don't think these Jets have the patience to work in a receiver like that and I bet you they go with someone else on special teams in the short term. I hope I'm wrong though
Yeah, still needs to refine his offensive skills for sure. We don't seem to utilize the shifty slot receiver either, which could work against him. Personally, i think if he flashes at PR and Gunner, that is enough to warrant a place on the 53. The Edleman comparison is good, although i was thinking Cobb. Edelman was a really good contributor on specials before getting more playing time on offense (after Welker left).. I think Marshall is even a little more fluid athletically, having been a bballer and long jumper. look at the ups below.. type of guy i'd like to see the Jets have the patience to develop, but he has to show something on specials right away.
Per Rotoworld http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/9413/dri-archer Bills claimed RB Dri Archer off waivers from the Jets. A wasted third-round pick of the Steelers in 2014, Archer could not even make it to OTAs with the Jets before being waived. A track star without much football ability, Archer is a great fit in Buffalo.
Yeah he has the size and/or speed to be an absolute monster and yet two teams have waived him (he got minimal touches on a Steelers team whose bell cow RB was injured for swathes of last season and other weapons missed chucks as well) - sounds like that sixth overall pick we used who was from Ohio State a few years back (I know the name but want to forget it as when we selected him as I recall all the draft niks went into ovedrive giving us an A++ for choosing him) who just has one obvious yet 100% fatal flaw - he can't translate it to production on a Sunday or "Any Given Sunday" for that matter!!!!
Dri Archer is going to beast for the Bills this year. When he shows up lolololol http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...ace-dri-archer-on-reservedid-not-report-list/ _
Archer declined practice squad opportunities last year, didn't even reach camp with the Jets, and is now a no show in Buff. It's over. Speed doesn't make someone a football player, and it's obvious Archer isn't serious about becoming one.
Good gauge on which UDFA's have the best shot at making team is their amount of guaranteed money. 3 highest guarantees: DE Lawrence Thomas - 15k S D0ug Middleton - 15k WR/PR Jalen Marshall - 12.5k Granted it's not a lot of money. These 3 are very interesting prospects tho, and happened to get the most. Will be worth keeping an eye on during camp.
