Haynesworth was voted most dominant defensive by his peers in a 2009 SI poll........he'd be a beast at DE for us. He'd add that element of pressure that this defense sorely lacked in pass rushing situations, last year. He'd instantly make this whole defense better.
if the Bolts could just get a 1st in any trade for Vincent, they'd take it. why would you throw in 2nds and 3rds? at the most, the Jets could make the 3rd a 2nd, but there is absolutely no reason for the Jets, who would assume Haynesworth's salary, to throw in another pick on top of that. when all is said and done, the Chargers only need to get value for Jackson, and receivers aren't worth a 1st, 2nd and 3rd. you may as well have the Jets offering a 1st if you want to overpay to ensure the deal gets done.
His salary really isn't too bad at this point for the next 3 years, plus Jenkins is likely retired. 2010: $3.6 million (+ $21 million guaranteed option bonus due 4/1 (washington responsible for this)), 2011: $5.4 million, 2012: $6.7 million (+ $500,000 workout bonus), --- 2013: $8.5 million (+ $20 million "discretionary signing bonus" + $500,000 roster bonus due 8/31 = Poison Pill Year), 2014: $10.3 million (+ $500,000 roster bonus due 8/31), 2015: $11.5 million (+ $500,000 roster bonus due 8/31), 2016: Free Agent
We'd be bumping a 3rd to a 2nd (which could become a 2nd anyway depending on Cro's play).....and a 3rd two years from now. That'd be a robbery on our part.....not "overpaying"
Haynesworth is scheduled to make less the next three seasons, than we were on the hook to pay Jenkins. Cap wise it'd be no issues whatsoever......you're 100% right.
I would love to have Haynesworth on the Jets. He would improve our defense in more ways than one. But with the type of money Revis is getting, with players such as Harris, Edwards, Holmes and Cromartie looking to get paid - I just cant see adding a huge contract like Haynesworth to the Jets. I haven't quit on Vernon Gholston, but for a player such as Albert, I'd have no problem letting Gholston go for Haynesworth. It doesn't bother me that he doesn't wanna play a 3-4 defense with the Redskins, because no one does it like Rex Ryan. I'm pretty damn sure this man would love to play for Rex, because Rex would use this man in plenty of different ways.
HE DOSENT HAVE A HUGE CONTRACT. HE MAKES LESS THAN JENKINS. IT'S 2 POST UP ON YOURS. READ IT. srsly. you idiots need to stop claiming he's got a huge contract. he dosen't. WSW posted a great breakdown of what his contract is. educate yourself
You would think that him taking his 40 million dollar bonus a few months ago would give people a clue that he has gotten most of the money on his contract by now.
Yes, the Chargers are not going to get a 1st for Jackson unless they find a major sucker to deal with. He was tendered at a 1st and a 3rd and nobody bit on the tender. Best bet is he goes somewhere for a 2nd and a later pick.
v. jackson makes some sense for the jets. edwards just does not pressure defenses enough. jackson would change that......and i'm not even thinking about the play at QB. hmmm v. jackson and s. holmes.....sign me up for that. jil
Not everyone has the time to read every post on this site. Also, I'm a fan of the Jets... I don't pay attention to contracts of every big name player in the league, on other teams. The poster above proved me wrong, and I'm glad I was wrong about his contract situation as of right now, because he's one hell of a player and I'd love to have him on the Jets. But to call someone an idiot, for thinking he makes a lot of money is too funny.
Well if you're going to make a post about something, you should educate yourself on the subject at hand, less you sound like an idiot.
Apparently The Redskins have finally made it clear: http://nfl-facts-and-rumors.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/22475988/24673637. They're going to trade Haynesworth.
