There were a couple of guys like Bryant with Pittsburgh and Mathews on the Eagles. But there's other teams drafting too and you have to be good and lucky to get someone good in the 3rd or 4th rounds. I'm still not counting out either Quincy or Evans. I think they basically selected Saunders as a return guy but after fumbling a ball they cut him. Then he goes to the Saints and takes one to the house.
You can't field unused cap space, and you can't field cut draft picks. He had one good trade for Ivory and that's it! The Harvin trade was expensive, desperate, and counter productive to saving his beloved cap space. He brought in the ex QB from Jax with a blown out knee to backup Sanchez and Geno. Sanchez gets injured and forces Geno to start. Patterson and Floyd never saw the field because they were crap or injury prone. Drafting a Safety in the first round was beyond stupid when we needed some Offense, I could go on and on. But I'm grateful the clown car was blown up from GM, Coaching Staff, Scouting Department, Janitor, etc.
Oh I forgot he was also the architect of the sham QB competition with Vick. Why even pay Vick 4 million and anoint your second round draft pick the starter? Vick and Cimini said it was a sham as Geno had 85% of the snaps in camp. To go out and still give credit to a GM that fielded the trash we put on the field last year is abominable.
I agree on Garrard. Patterson was a good signing based on his decent play with Miami. The problem with him was injuries but many DBs were in the same boat. Often injured and that includes Revis and Cro. There's a lot of a-holes in the NFL Mac just traded for one of the bigger ones in the league. Patterson didn't make it out of pre-season because of that. The Harvin trade was a good deal. He wasn't available before the season and when Seattle shopped him Idzik was aggressive and made the trade. He had no guaranteed money left on his Seattle contract and the Jets only had to give up either a 4th or a 6th. He played very well at times. Consider it kind of a try out for a potential impact player. And finally drafting Pryor was smart. The guy was highly rated going into the draft and our secondary needed a make-over. He took care of the wide receiver position in free agency. The plan was intelligent on paper. On the field in 2014 nothing worked. You don't fire a guy based on one bad year. Rex had 4 bad years.
I wanted Teddy over any other player since Luck. If he didn't take Teddy he should have gotten a WR for Mariota to throw to. _
I wouldn't believe anything Cimini says. He is still bashing Idzik. Talk about unobjective reporting and personal attacks. Vick on paper was a good signing and a legit potential starter and after the Garrard debacle they needed a second Qb on the active roster who could start. When he did play he didn't seem like he wanted to be there. Most reports said that it was Rex's call to bench Vick and bring back Geno who played well. Parcells thinks so.
You can't have both. Only one first rounder in 2014. Beckham was the best player in the 2014 draft. The Jets wanted to draft him. It would have been great. But like everything else in 2014 it didn't work out. You have to give Idzik some of the blame for all that bad luck. I mean it. Luck shouldn't be the motivating factor.
Look two guys and 31 other teams drafting. There is a little competition out there. You can't get every good player and some of these guys like Bryant are long shots. Matthews was good but not a top flight receiver. He had about 50 receptions.
Teddy was the best player on the board at 18 in 2014. Idzik passed on him. Fuck Idzik for that fuck up. He took a safety-a position that can be filled easily later in the draft or in FA and he left not only Teddy but Cooks, Benjamin and Matthews on the board. That is inexcusable. Fuck John Idzik for fucking my franchise. _
That sounds like 20-20 hindsight. But Cooks or Landry or Matthews or Benjamin? Or Teddy ? Or Carr? Fuck John Idzik _
I'm not saying those 3 early but all 3 could have been had 3rd round to 4th round instead we took mcdougle Saunders and Evans
Teddy didn't go to around 28 probably because like Mariota he didn't have a good Pro Day. Which shows you how meaningless throwing to receivers on an open field with no pass rush is. Teddy played above where he was chosen and Minny traded Cassel because they want him to start. But he didn't play that much above 28 and he couldn't hold Luck's jockstrap.
Hahahaaa the Andrew Luck red herring raises its head once again. Had Idzik drafted Teddy he'd be the GM for years and have a SB championship to show for it. But he didn't so he isn't and he won't. _
wow what a bad thread, not because it is your opinion but you based on flawed facts. Thank JI for hat not spending money and not drafting weel. he would still be here if he could have drafted well. but he did not so only executed the easy part of the plan not spending money........
