I'm down with this for a number of reasons, not the least of which is the gymnastics we'd see from 4-5 posters here if they did this and he actually competed against the milf hunter.

He played against worse competition than Zach in NCAA.

I don’t like what they did with Morstead, that’s dirty pool

Kind of playing a dangerous game aren’t they? What’s to stop someone else from giving him more money and stealing him from us?

Morstead will be back tomorrow afternoon or as soon as it is allowed. He is a vested veteran and didn't have to pass through waivers. He already had a deal with the Jets to be cut and then brought back on the roster once they have been able to put Carter Warren and Jarrick Bernard-Converse on short-term IR.

EDIT: The report that said that JBC was practicing last week was erroneous. JBC was still on the PUP list, so will go to the Reserve PUP List. Maybe Lawson or Yeboah are going on IR as well.

No, they worked it out with Morstead and Bawden ahead of time. They already have agreed to either the same deal, or maybe the Jets threw them a little more cash to do this for the team. They don't have to sign with another team, just because they're FAs. The Jets wouldn't have cut Morstead unless he agreed to do this ahead of time. The only risk would be his double-crossing them amd signing with someone else, but why would he do that? He obviously wanted to come back to the Jets this season or wouldn't have signed with them. He may already have signed his new deal, the Jets just haven't turned it into the league office.

I’d assume there’s a handshake deal and they’re taking him at his word. This is a pretty common thing

thats just not true. he may not have been a top 10 WR but he was a legit starter for a couple years. his final season with us he had pace for 1k yards till the QB situation went to poop and then after leaving us, even with a bad QB in carolina had 95 catches for 1100 yards. after that though he seemed to have fallen off completely. bad WRs don't have 90+ catch 11 yard seasons.

i don't get the hate for him here at all. he was only a 3rd rounder and yeah had high expectations but he's played really well as a roaming FS. he's just been bad in run support taking bad angles but he's had some huge INTs for us in key spots. in limited time he's really been our best player at getting INTs

I think it's more common with teams that players want to stay with.

his contract will be the same. Again, not an uncommon practice.

While I’m sure it’s a handshake deal to manage a roster and resign tomorrow or the next day, there is still some amount of risk. Maybe he changes his mind. Maybe some other team offers him twice our contract offer. Maybe a team closer to his home calls him. Who knows…can be anything.

I’m sure it’s probably been agreed to already, but I don’t know…things always look great until they don’t, you know?

May only be 5% risk, but it’s still a risk

That being said, our good friend Belichick is playing chicken with QBs as he cut both backups so only Mac on the roster right now. Probably looking at McCoy? So yah, punter not as risky as QB I guess is one way to look at it

Good team. Plenty of talent. Coach Saleh wonders how they will do when adversity strikes. Of course, posters on this board may want to fire all the coaches, GM and Woody after a game one loss. The team will stand up better than the fans I think.
