Wasn't he drafted by USC to be a tight end? I know he was drafted by somebody to be one. On the point of this thread, however, the defense will have to play just as good this week and Favre will have to play better in order for us to win.
hmmm.,--the son of a bitch is like a secret weapon in the hands of that sociopath BB--can't take him lightly at all. Hope Manginius is up to the challenge.
Don, how much better does Favre need to play? 15 for 22, 2 TDs and no Int. and a 126 passer rating. Coles catches the pass its 16 for 22, 3 TDs and a 140 rating. Br4d: I saw Cassels play back-up and he LOOKED good but it was last year I think and he was playing with all those pro-bowlers so, I can't decide if its him or the team. Not as good a team around him this year so???
like the 52-7 washington game?? You are a terrible football fan... not because of the team you root for, its just you.

Im a big believer in that one player does not change the course of a game significantly. No doubt, Tom Brady is a great QB, however before Randy Moss, before Wes Welker, before the oline gave him 6 seconds to throw every time, before Maroney, and before a very good defense, Tom Brady was putting up mediocre numbers. With the kind of time the oline will give matt cassell and the routes the receivers run, Matt Cassell, or any NFL QB, will still put up good numbers and be solid. This game is far from a gimme.
Cassell has been waiting for 8 years for this day. They're going to make a movie of the week about it and then an excerpt in Reader's Digest. I'm hoping the movie is a tragedy tearjerker.
This game will turn on the pass rush rattling Cassell. The burden can't be on the offense. Despite its improvements, it is as Favre says, a work in progress.
and I think in turn, Cassell's ability to get the ball to Faulk, his TEs and any hot reads at WR. ON passing downs, I think he'll be throwing a lot of three step drops, they'll be moving the pocket, and running screens to Faulk. Now this actually counters to our weakness on defense in one area from last week, ability to cover TEs and RBs....
This is not the week we find out what were made of. We didn't look good against the dolphins. We did at certain points in the game but there were plenty of mistakes. If we play like that this week we will lose even sans Tom Brady. This is not a true test of this team for two reasons. One is our Jets will not be clicking on all cylinders for a few more weeks. I would say after the bye is when we will really start to see what this team can do. Secondly this is the season for the patriots. They will play their butts off because they are getting dumped on by the media and they will want to prove them wrong. Add to that that a loss this week could send them spiraling and Bill B knows that. Add to that that they hate us anyway and I would expect the Pats to play their best game of the year this week. So if we do lose I wouldn't be surpised but either way I think we beat them in their building later in the year.
This is the week to unleash our pass rush. Bring the kitchen sink. I can't wait. No mercy. On offense, let Favre do his thing. Attack their DBs sans Asante Samuel. This game is absolutely crucial to our season, could be pivotal either way. If we win, we build momentum heading into San Diego. If we lose, to Matt Cassell no less, it will deal a huge blow to the team's confidence, the fan's confidence. It will be "same old Jets" again, we'll have to hear all the pundits and the Peter King's of the world tell us how we're the "most pathetic franchse in Modern Sports." If we beat the Pats, I see us being 3-0 after 3 games, in the driver's seat and with a "break" in our schedule.
