I think Max's atrocious preseason performance resulted in him being the odd man out instead of Turner, who was poor in practice against our defense, but did a little better in preseason against other teams.

Breece Hall is looking good in team drills. Seems to be moving well laterally. #Jets

Didn't I just see AVT and Becton doing drills in another post?

I’ll give a sunny side take in I was listening to Tierney and Licata today. They made the point that yeah of course the offensive line is the obviously circled weakness but if they’re just OK we should be fine.

My bigger concern than the unit as a whole is the tackle depth. Let’s assume Brown & Becton play decently. We have nothing behind them.

I'm assuming Hughes meant that AVT wasn't running through team drills today but yes, AVT participated in individual/positional drills today.

Nevermind, missed this tweet from Hughes about 10 minutes after the other one I posted:

    Hughes:
AVT is now in team drills. Controlling his reps. Healthy Jets!

Jets scout defense now up against the starting offense. Looks like the #Jets are practicing how they would during the year.

Breece Hall continues to look comfortable running in team drills. Cutting is smooth. Looks very good. #Jets

So, to channel my inner Abbott and Costello: "Who's on left? "... "I dunno.."

IF Becton takes this RT job and runs with it and he stays healthy, I feel somewhat confident that we can get adequate level play from Brown/Turner/Mitchell at LT this year.

Obviously, those first 2 "ifs" are BIG IFS but we'll see.

The right side of the OL is kicking ass in the run again. This time against the first team defense. #Jets

Next play is a PA pass completion from Rodgers to Wilson over Sauce. #Jets

Quincy Williams with a really nice pass break-up on Conklin/Rodgers. Got his hands in front at the perfect moment. #Jets

Zach Wilson with a beautiful throw to Kuntz for a big gain. Kuntz has had an uneven camp but looked good on that route + catch. #Jets

I am not comfortable with Mitchell/Turner at LT all. If something happens to Brown, Mekhi will be the LT. And I would prefer AVT at RT, though we could give Turner a shot. Max is the last guy I want to see play at all based on his preseason performance. If tomorrow some half decent OT is brought in from another team's cuts, Max may be outright waived, and no one will care. He will end up on our PS, where frankly he belongs.

#Jets practice is over for media. *non-padded practice*

    - Team practiced like they would during regular season
    - Becton and AVT were pretty cool to watch together in the run. Potential is there to be a long-term duo.
    - Quincy Williams looks good
    - Breece Hall continues to look comfortable post recovery.

I just hate the idea of moving these guys around so much.

Now if it's a long term injury to Brown and Becton will be the LT for 10+ weeks, sure, make the move and have Turner/Mitchell fight for RT but if Brown goes down for a week or two, I'd prefer to keep Becton at RT and let Turner/Mitchell start at LT. Continuity is massive for these guys.

#Jets practice is over. It was a light one. No pads and largely a “cards” day.

(I feel dumb but does anyone know what a "cards day" is??)

I'm not concerned. Back issues are nothing to fool around with. With all the depth that they have at Edge, they'll be fine. As long as it's relatively minor, and he'll be back when the season starts, I think it will be a blessing in disguise as it will give McDonald, JJ, Clemons and Huff more reps. It will also help keep Lawson fresher for the season. They know what he can do and he knows what he needs to do.

As for Davis, good question. It appears it may be something with his family. I hope that everything will be OK. I saw a Jets fan on another site say that he thought that the Jets should tell Davis to take a pay cut or be cut/traded. I suppose that it's possible that the Jets have done that (although I doubt it and hope not), and he requested some time to think about it.

If Becton is back next year, I think it's likely that he gets moved back to the left side.

I wonder if Davis got told about the paycut and he is just mulling it over and the team gave him some time to think about it before they make a decision. They could literally get rid of Davis/Lawson and there is a "disgruntled" WR out on the west coast that would probably love to play with his former QB.. just sayin'
