Thanks for posting this. I totally agree with Grant. As Grant points out, with Mims statistics of how much separation he has is meaningless. He tracks the ball extremely well, has great hands, and has a huge catch radius. He's open even when he completely covered. With Zach's accuracy and Mims' ability, there will always be an open receiver. To say otherwise, is just flat out ignorant imo. That's not to say that he shouldn't improve his route running skills so that he can get more separation, but if LaFleur benches him because he doesn't get as much separation as he wants, LaFleur is stupid imo. Mims has too much talent and ability and the Jets need to be focused on developing that ability to its fullest and making him one of the primary targets as Grant said. Not treating him as just another WR and if he doesn't do one thing as well as LaFleur thinks he should bury him. The only WR on the Jets with as much talent or more than Mims is Moore.
That would be disappointing, but I want the best players to play. If Berrios outplays Mims in camp, he should be ahead of him. I'm hoping Mims steps up though.
Definitely worth listening to. I love Saleh's post practice interviews. He is so open in responding to questions. He also addresses Mimms and what he has been going through and how they try to even out the reps with WRs.
Yep! And the Jets do this again and again. Might be why we never seem to find those franchise QBs I mentioned Mahomes because he admitted when he first got to the NFL he couldn't ID the MIC he didn't even know what that meant. If you started him in week 1 he could be viewed as a bust right now. Instead he got to sit and learn and now he's viewed as the face of the league. I really think Zach is in that same boat he can make the throws give him time to put it all together. But we're gonna put him under immense pressure and hope he can figure it out by September. Even Herbert sat a couple weeks last year.
Not as much as it would chap certain others who want to see him and the Jets fail. I'm tired of stupidity from the Jets FO and CS. When they draft a player with great potential, they need to take the steps to ensure that he succeeds and thrives. They don't do that like other teams do. If Berrios was as talented as Mims, I'd have no problem with Berrios being higher on the depth chart. I want the best players to play. If they know Mims well enough to know that putting him on the 3rd string will motivate him or take pressure off of him, great. I would have no problem with that. At this point, however, I doubt that they know him that well, and are probably taking more of a cookie cutter approach, and that doesn't work with every player. Too much of coaching is the same meathead, dumbass way of doing things that they've been done for 50 years (yelling and screaming at players, putting them in a doghouse, using negative tactics, etc.).
I was all for the Jets signing a veteran QB early like Tyrod Taylor or even Betheard. IMO signing Mullens or some schlub like wouldn't have helped. Unless they can get Foles, there's no much point to signing a vet now.
First full one I watched (that it was under 10 mins definitely helped lol). Damn, he’s not bombastic or anything but he makes me excited! What a change from the serial killer and Bowles.
I don’t think that was the plan, though. Didn’t Tyrod get hurt? Even then I remember speculation that they were gonna put Tyrod back in when he healed.
