Honestly, that was probably Geno's nicest pass of camp. Dropped it right in Hakim's hands past Cromartie. Beautiful. Rontez sighting again: Drops the shoulder and levels Austin Hill after completion. Nice hit
Rumph I'd guess but Bowles doesn't line him up out there vs Cro. Maybe they don't want to kill his confidence.
With David Harris resting during 11-on-11, Erin Henderson getting extra work alongside Demario Davis.
Everybody's excited we got Cro back. I am too. But I guess the year apart and how bad our CB depth was last year I've seen people expecting a shutdown corner out of him. Not the case. The last season he was with us, although he didn't have much of a supporting cast and perhaps being hurt, he was still a bit of a liability if I remember correctly. People were saying he was done. Cro will be giving up some big plays for us, but he will also make some big plays for us. He'll literally have us pulling our hair out one play and jumping for joy the next. That's just the kind of CB he is. Flashy but risky. Crazy athletic to make plays but technique not great enough to erase any WRs. Revis is the other way around in that he shuts guys down but doesn't have the size Cro has to make crazy interceptions.
Checked with @CLoprestiWFAN, Pace, Harris haven't gone in yet in team drills. Might be rest day for vets + reason for Mauldin 1st-team reps Fitz hits Hakim, who beat Walls, on in route for TD in red zone
What the hell is going on. Perfect Geno: Wanted Powell on out with first read. Wasn't there. Rolled out of pocket, kept eyes down field, found Kerley in back for TD.
Not everyone excited. I was happy when Idzik let him go and the money we gave him this off season was retarded.
I want to get excited for Geno. I really do. And I'm still optimistic. But I have to limit my excitement because it was the same thing last camp. Geno was looking very improved and we were all holding our breath to see if it was true. Not to mention Stephen Hill (*cringe*) was going HAM last training camp and everybody including the beat writers were saying it was his year to step up. Camp can be deceptive like that. But I like what I'm hearing so far. Something in me truly believes he can be a relatively good QB for us this year. Solid at least.
Geno has been unbelievable this camp. Man I hope he keeps this up in the regular season. Will gladly host the crow eating fest if this happens.
Speaking of young OLBs, Mauldin in there with a would-be sack of Petty. Pace in there for 7-on-7. No Harris yet. Cro having a tough time keeping up with speedy Owusu today. OL doing 1-on-1. Couples just beat Brick around outside for would-be sack. IK follows getting around Qvale. Leonard then beats Winters.
Mauldin just made Ijalana look silly. Got around him with extreme quickness. Inside, outside move with a swim.
I try to look at it the same way. I don't get too upset if he throws a pick, I don't get too excited if he doesn't. But we all know what's going to happen once he throws that first interception. It'll happen eventually, you can't kill him for making a bad throw. He's been great so far in camp, you couldn't ask for more. He just has to keep being consistent.
Lorenzo Watt? JJ Mauldin? Mauldin again. This time he cuts inside to beat Brewer. He's showing really, really impressive quickness. Nice rotation of moves, too. Mauldin is absolutely destroying these cowbell drills. Jamari Lattimore nearly with an INT on Geno. Went through his hands twice.
Lorenzo Mauldin is killing it in a pass rushing/blocking drill. One thing is for sure watching the O-line/D-line 1-on-1 drills: Lorenzo Mauldin is FAST off the block. Wild man in these drills. Mauldin, literally, has yet to be stopped. Teammate throws his towel and calls him for, if I heard correctly, "unnecessary dominance" Hilarious. Pulling so much for this kid, he deserves all the success there is in any way shape or form.
Mauldin and IK may really be our future at OLB. very promising players, and won't have to be studs so long as we keep our DL a strength. but man, Ijalana, Brewer and Qvale are making them look like All-Pro's. our backup OT position is very concerning. one of them needs to separate from the pack.
Don't you dare get injured. Lorenzo Mauldin misses one play after twisting his ankle and now he is back in.
