Yeah, you're okay for heights, weights, 40 times, and such. Beyond that, you just take whatever dribbles out of Crazy Al's mouth between spoonfuls of creamed corn, and you repeat it over and over again. As if repetition made it true. And, you KNOW how I love this exercise. Slapping you around with bandwith is. . . . well. . . it's like twinkling my tootsies in a cool running stream - playfully entertaining. For now, though, I half to go back to work, so the Raiderjeaux family can get it's shipment of gub'ment cheese on time. Cheerieaux!!
So, I guess in one of his first games in the NFL, in a situation where it is being nationally televised, a ROOKIE who has not played much the previous season is supposed to be as sharp as a vet...hmmm. Well, I think you have comparison issues, my friend. The thing I looked for is not polish, but poise in traffic and making the proper reads. Not all the throws have to be there yet, just the presence. the guy has a lot of upside, and is still raw. Give him a season to develop without injury (no guarentees there yet) and he could be a monster. As for the announcers, they were seeing the same game I was, and they were seeing a rookie show some form. Now, if that same guy had been a pro for 4 years, the comparison would have not been as favorable. You have to put performance in perspective, after all, Aikman and Manning (just 2 such comparisons, not saying Walter is in that area of ability (yet)) did not have great rookie campaigns, but they developed over time. As a matter of fact, Aikman (now a HOFer) was almost replaced his second year. Further, Dallas picked his replacement in the Suplimental draft that same year. He just found his groove. You cannot look at two games after the layoff with a rookie and say he doesnt have the stuff, too early to tell.
Unless you want a QB or Ngata, or even Vernon Davis moving to 7 is not a good thing. 4,5 and 6 will most likely take the 3 elite players of Hawk, Mario Williams and D'Brick. Leaving the next tier of players at 7 either Ngata, Davis, and the Cutler/Young leftover. But if you want a QB then moving to 7 is not bad. But if that is the case moving to 9 is probably even better as the Cardinals at 10 are the only team between 4 and 10 that would likely be inetrested in a QB. If its Davis you want then trading back even further between 10 and 15 is most likely where you would want to be. I love the idea of trading down and getting more players especially to get to ones that you are targetting. Whether its a Davis, Winston Justice or whomever but the problem is finding teams to trade down with. Many young posters on theis board think we should just be able to wave our hands and force other teams to trade with us. Thats obviously not the case. Finding a trading partner is more like finding the perfect woman it depends a lot on luck, timing and good fortune.
No no. . . you missed what I said. I said in. . oh geez. . .one of these damn threads, that I thought Walter could be a competent NFL quarterback. My problem is that I didn't understand why all of Raiderland was cracking open their Crisco jars and waving Trojans in the air over what was a fairly uninspired first showing. I could see saying that he has potential from his college career, but certainly not from an erratic, 50% throwing performance agaist the 49er's third string. In any event, the point of my initial post was confirmed - the Radi?rs aren't in the market for a quarteback (or a RB), because they - umm, y'all - believe that those positions are set. And good luck with that.
Well, set is not the right word. We need a vet to compete for the job at QB, and need a Richardson type of FB to break Jordan out. I like Jordan a lot, he has a lot of skill and has a heart that wont quit. I tend to think we got a good guy from you all.
First Off 49ers played their first string players well into 4th quarter in that game. Raiders totally dominated them in the first half. Second A Walter was nursing a groin injury . Watch this preseason game with the groin injury. http://youtube.com/watch?v=cJNDYsBk5Lk&search=andrew walter
