Based on rough pick values, for this deal to be worthwhile, you have to believe that Drew Henson is worth an early-to-mid 2nd-round pick. I don't think anyone in the league would trade a first-day pick for Henson.
Thank you for the smart-ass remark. We all havent heard enough of those already. It's not like i didnt admit to it being a RUMOR or anything. You know, it's not often that I start a thread, and now I think I figured out why. It's because people like yourself think that just because something doesnt have a 100% credible source, it can not be talked about. Would you rather read the same repetitive threads about Leinart's arm-strength or Mario Williams' next workout again? I sure as hell wouldn't. This message board would be absolutely terrible if thats all we talked about, because we've all heard it hundreds of times before. Then I go and find an interesting rumor that gives you all a break from the same old bullshit that is posted on here every fuckin day and I get smashed for it. So why don't you either stay out of the rumor threads completely or just shut the fuck up if you've got nothing useful to say? I will now accept my probable banning.
This has bullshit written all over it. Drew Henson has no value whatsoever, so it would be essentially trading the Cowboys' #18 and their 1st rounder of next year (probably #20+). That would hardly be worth the #4 overall, especially since the top 5 is loaded with quality prospects.
Well, the whole thing is a complete gamble. the 18th pick is worth 900 points, the 4th is 1800. We'd be gambling on whether or not the cowboys would finish above or below the 18th pick next year. Of course, if they finish in the same place, it would be dead even. Also, I dont think Henson is a major part of the deal. It is more along the lines of 2 first rounders for 1 first rounder. Henson is just "an added bonus" if you wanna call it that.....I sure as hell wouldnt
I agree! That is why I don't start threads. This is a discussion forum, if you don't like the topic, don't read it or don't post. It's really simple. This post was better than the 8,000 Super Mario threads or "Vince Young rules". We're all excited about the draft and want to hear the latest smack talk about it, that is why many of us visit this site. If you don't like, don't read.
That's not quite how it works. Next year's first round pick is worth about the same as this year's second-round pick when evaluating trades. If you wanted another 2nd-rounder this year, you'd have to trade a first-rounder next year. Why? Well, b/c this year's draft pick becomes a player in a week, who then plays the '06 season. Next year's draft pick only helps my team a year from now, so he's worth less right now. Assuming you expect the Cowboys to finish in the top 20 in the league, the pick is worth between 270-450 points. Add that to the 900 points for #18, and you have 1170-1350 points, so Henson has to be worth between 450-630 points, or a very late first to mid-2nd. If he's not worth that to you, you don't make this trade. Henson is worth closer to a 6th or 7th round pick, so this trade is obviously the drooling fantasy of a Dallas fan.
Thank you for adding some sense to this. To even think about trying to get a deal done here, we would need 18 this year, their second this year, their first next year, and a 3rd rounder this year. Value Chart: 4=1800 To compesate, we need 18=900 49=410 That gives us 1310. Say Cowboys are 25th in next years draft...since their first rounder next year is only worth a second rounder this year, that = 330 now we are at 1640. Add a 3rd rounder, 80th overall...that =190. 1640 plus 190=1830. Because of the quality of players in this draft, they would have to overcompensate a bit.
I'm sure this is some garbage rumour started by some dillusional Cowboy fan but if we made this deal I would throw up.....
