I think Turner is the best option for us. But not for a 1st,and i don't think that will happen anyway. Not one person in this thread was in favor of giving a 1st,imagine that the professionals that run our team aren't either. We'll get him for a second
This guy is a fan site writer... no credibility what so ever... This is just some guy on the nets speculation...
after hearing those stats there is nothing that impressed me about him, the only reason some of you guys think he will be good is because you see him on the highlight film making a 50 yard run.
everyone who is saying theres no reason to give up a 1st rounder....remember that our OC knows the player very well. he has some pretty good input on turners abilities and value. while i would rather spend a lower pick (as we all would) theres no reason to bug out at the prospect of doing so. although that whole doug jolley thing was a bitch....but hey.....new chef and new grocery boy.....
All we gotta do is wait till the chargers get eliminated. Then Turner will speak his mouth and demand to get traded. That's when we will come in and offer our second and they will feel obligated to trade. Will throw is Cedric Houston as well if they want. No other team will give up a first round pick either. We shouldn't worry.
We would be out of our minds to give SD a top pick....Turner is going to be a RFA and there isnt that many teams lineing up for the dude evening. Most of the teams who need RB's will adress them in the draft. I think its between the Giants and Jets for who gets Turner and the Giants will be caucious with SD considering the last deal the two made on draft day. We can get Turner for a 3rd round pick, no need to give them anything higher. Shit...give me Bush or another RB whos going to cost less in the 1st or early 2nd round rather than Turner who is going to cash in and will be as big of a question mark durability wise.
I like what BXjet first off, that I doubt once the season is over Turner will be happy staying behind LT. I look at it this way, our 1st rd pick isn't much higher than the 2nd rd. pick we got from washington. Turner knows the Jet offense and at this point in might even be a good peace offering to help keep Schotty here a year or two longer. With Turner we got a back who's ready to go opening day. I think if it takes a first I would'nt be upset. We would either draft a back in that position anyway or we need help at G, CB, OLB/DE, and DT that im sure we can get a good player with the washington pick to fill up one of those spots.
our first for turner and their first is an outside possibility, but I don't really want this guy. Barlow's got a better track record and look how he went.
Good point about keeping Schott here a bit longer if he gets what he wants. But Turner does not know the Jets offense at all. Schott was the QUARTERBACKS coach in San Diego, not the offensive coordinator, not even the runningbacks coach. He didn't run the offense, he brought his own unique offense to the Jets this year. Why do you think everyone is so crazy about him this season? If he had run this offense in San Diego it wouldn't be a new/unique thing he is/was doing! TURNER DOES NOT KNOW THE JETS OFFENSE!
I say give a fourth rounder for him. Third a the MOST. We need to spend our money on road grader guards before we spend on a RB.
The only way I see Tanny giving a 1st for Turner is if he's looking to build up his resume to apply for a job with the Redskins.
This guy is not Lamont Jordan Part 2. Watch his game tomorrow against the Chargers. He has breakaway speed and is huge. A successful Running game in the Nfl now requires two running backs. With Leon and Turner we definitely be able to move the ball next year. Turner would run up the middle and get the defense tired so Leon can then bounce to the outside.
