I have a feeling we end up keeping Wilk. I think the uncertainty with Richardson and his off field situations are going to be the reason we keep Mo. I can see Mac trading Richardson. Younger. Very talented. Which would likely net us something worth a trade. With Snacks, Leonard Williams, and Wilk, I can definitely see Sheldon being the odd man out.
I do. I think Mac works out a long term way to keep both while cutting Cromartie and some of the older guys like Pace. Cut Cro and rework Brick, and that alone will free up a good amount of money. The only concern I have is that Snacks declined a three year deal before for a good amount of money. Leads one to belive he's gonna demand a lot. Lessen the blow on the front end and load it on the back? Allow for an escape route in the middle? Mac's got a lot to think about right now lol
We are looking at somewhere around $14 million in cap space with carry over. Give or take depending on the new cap number. Cut Cro = adds $8 million on the cap Rework Brick = adds about $5 million on the cap Cut Kerley and Cumberland = adds $5 million Leaves us with $32 million in space. Give or take depending on Bricks new deal. Resign Fitzpatrick immediately. And now the fun begins.
100000000% agree. I am very confident in saying once Sheldon gets his extension he will smoke a blunt and catch a 10 game suspension. There is almost no doubt in my mind.
Idk if I agree with your first statement. I think signing guys like Skrine and Gilchrist were some of the main reasons we won 10 games this year. This team was hot garbage last year and one of the weakest areas was the secondary in a throwing league. Football has become almost entirely a game played in the air. I am more than happy we made those moves. You have to remember also, we HAD to spend the money. Should we have resigned Wilkerson instead? It's arguable. But I think signing guys like Gilchrist and Skrine was a much smarter move than piling all the money into one player. Losing Wilk would suck, but Mac made a genius pick when he chose Leonard Williams. We are more than lucky to have the talent we have on the defensive line. It is impossible to field a championship team with all the money tied into the line.
Wilk should be priority 1. There should be no faith in Sheldon staying on the field and avoiding suspensions. The warning signs are more than there. Lock up Mo long term and dump Sheldon before his value goes thru the floor.
Absolutely, which is what I posted earlier. Sheldon needs to be the odd man out. His off season move this past year wasn't just a minor hiccup. The guy was caught speeding, ran from the cops, had a gun in the car, smoking weed, with a kid lmao Sign a guy long term that you know will stay on the field and get the best bang for your buck.
I think we are still short if we sign Fitz to two year 8 mil per. Thats 18 mil left for free agency and Mo. SMH
Well, again, this isn't counting other cuts and restructures. But yes, it is gonna be extremely difficult.
May I remind you guys Sheldon Richardson is only 25 years old. The amount of talent and athleticism at his size is nearly unmatched. Keep the damn D-line together we'll still have the money to make all our other moves. Not a single team in the NFL wants to sign up to face Mo, Sheldon, Leonard and Snacks..let them do their thing and if one gets injured we still have an elite D-Line. Yea it's a luxury for a lot of teams to have such a stacked front but you have to build around your best players and 4 of them happen to be Defensive Lineman.
I don't think anyone is questioning Sheldon's talent. But his off field behaviors are a concern. He is facing potentially another suspension from the incident last year, and has sent up plenty of serious warning signs. Does no good for him to be 25 and suspended 10 games or longer. Just ask Josh Gordon.
if he stays clean for two years he is removed from the program and his strikes reset this recently happened with von miller ... http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_28574928/von-miller-released-from-nfls-drug-program
If... Would rather not find out. Trade while we can we have PLENTY of depth at the position. If it was a simple dirty urine that's one thing. But then we blink and he is pulled over speeding with a child in a car and weed. No thanks.
2 off-seasons of no trouble isn't hard to ask, but you cannot automatically assume he will stay outta trouble. That's how you get fucked as an organization, counting chickens before they hatch.
he wont get an extension unless he is out of the program ... he still has two years remaining on his contract
Almost all the money spent last season was front loaded over the first two season...I don't think last years spending will have anything to do with the decision to re-sign Mo. I think the only question is weather he is worth JJ Watt, Suh type of money and how much money they wanna invest in the D-line My guess is he will be franchised and we will be having the same discussion next year.
