i like this move. Suggs is way better than the other fools we have at RB now. Strait was decent, but too slow to be a corner and to small to play safety, so he wouldnt have seen much playing time anyway, why would you be mad about this?

    great trade

we traded away a player who was trying a move to safety to avoid being cut in exchange for our opening day starter at running back.

I would think that this pretty much confirms that we have seen the last of CMart..

Going on record as liking this move. Contingent of course on whether or not Suggs stays healthy. If healthy this guy can really make a difference in a game. Straight was never anything special and ive seen more liability with him out there then not.

Good move, hope it pans out. I still believe that Washington will shine if used correctly in the right situation though.

Suggs is a starting caliber back if healthy. At the moment, hes healthy. You look at his injury history... hes missed games because of toe and thumb injurys and crap like that. The sort of stuff where you look at it, and without knowing the details, you wonder if he couldve played if he had been willing to play through pain. And maybe he wouldve been willing if somebody had kicked his ass and made him play through pain. Hes sat out games for stuff that you would never know Curtis Martin even had. I guess the Jets are thinking that with the right motivation and being around a guy like Martin, maybe they can get this guy to stay on the field.

I like the move a lot, I think that Strait wasnt giving us much considering weve got Dyson Barrett and Miller all ahead of him, Mickens has experience in the system even though hes old, and apparently they like this kid Drew Coleman from TCU. Strait doesnt really have a spot; he was playing multiple positions in the backfield, but he wasnt playing any position well enough to start for us. Cleveland needs him more than we do, and we need Suggs more than they do. This is the best kind of trade, the kind where both teams are better off.

Wash isnt trading betts, now that Portis is sidelined for quite some time.

Listen, this trade is slightly above average Strait just wasnt getting it done, if he couldnt make it in Herms eyes, he most deffinatly didnt make it in mangini's, Strait never did anything to prove he was a good DB he was too slow to be a CB and too bad to be a S, Justin Miller is now taking his spot at CB leaving no spot for Strait so there is no reason to keep him around, esspecially since the Jets got a guy who has rushed for 189 in one game at a point, none of the RBs the Jets had before this trade could do that, so all in all good trade, i dont understand the hating

I don't see the upside in Strait that you do. I was high on him coming out of Oklahoma but he has never shown me anything in his stay here. Do I think Suggs is the answer? Maybe, maybe not, but what is a fact in my eyes is that Blaylock is definitely not the answer, the jury is still out on Houston but he better start learning to block or he is gone, while Washington is still a work in progress. The team needs an infusion of talent at the RB spot, and I also don't agree with the talk of giving Askew a chance, he is another one who would be promptly cut if it was up to me. Changes are needed at this position, especially if CMart is done for this year, this is just the beginning of this transition....

Why? These guys are horrible,,,, who would rather see those guys run with the ball. That's ridiculous.

First of all he was moved to safety but you do have a point. He didn't go there to avoid being cut though, but he may have been cut anyways.

The more I read about Suggs the more I like the move though but just because he might be the opening day RB doesn't mean he's a great RB or even a legit starter. He seems to be like Blaylock but a bit bigger. He's fast and is a cutback type of RB. We'll see how he does, at least he's someone to watch because I think we saw everything Strait had to offer...

We officially have the most fragile backfield in football... great.

Herm Edwards and Eric Mangini's backgrounds are in the defensive backfield. If neither of them thought he was a starter back there then how much did we really give up here?

I have to agree with you that while Suggs upside is not huge the Jets just got more upside than they gave up.

There is absolutely no compariosn between Suggs and the guys the Jets currently had (Blaylock, Houston). It's not even close. Some of you have to get real. Houston is nothing to brag about and Blaylock is a third down back Not even close.

Exactly, exactly. Buy this guy a beer. I love the move. suggs when healthy is a hell of a back. Hes instantly better then any rb we currently have on this team.

Suggs is another John McGraw. Nice player when healthy, never healthy. Strait is going to be a good safety in the right system but we have some depth in the D backfield so it's worth a shot for the upside at RB.

My gut tells me in 5 years Strait will have proven to be an good solid NFL player. Suggs will have been out of football for 3 years.

The fact is we took away from an area of strength and added to an area of weakness. This move makes the Jets a better football team. Of course its contingent on Suggs staying healthy but it was a needed move. I don't see how people are arguing against it. Particulary since Strait hasn't done anything to impress.

I am not complaining... just pointing out the obvious. Penny and Suggs are know for their injuries and nothing more.

I personally think that Suggs' injury history is directly tied to the fact that he played for the Browns... watch him go 16 games for us! You want optimism, there ya go!
