A few answers: Blaylock was brought in to be a change of pace/3d down back. He still is. Washington was a late round -- best available player/value pikc. Houston -- okay -- had good college credentials. Wasnt decent last year -- but showed nothing that would want you to give him the ball 20 times a game. Suggs is better than all of them and you gave up one guy -- who was ok. It was logical trade for both sides.
What happens when mickens is gone? He's got 1 MAYBE 2 years left? Strait could have been our nickel back for a long time. I don't like the move.
Picking up a number 2 back in Lee Suggs was much needed because we didnt have any, and Strait didnt look to be anything special and wasnt that great when he was in. Good defensive backs are always on the market every offseason.
this could be a great move if lee suggs can perform. i believe he can. as for derrick strait. what has he done to solidify all the love? lets get real. hes not a safety and he is not mr. upside. i would even say justin miller has more upside.
Strait was moved from CB because he hasn't been any good there since being drafted. I doubt Strait would've been our nickelback for a while. We have 4 CBs on the roster now who are better than Strait, and 3 of them are relatively the same age.
Just so I get all this strait (no pun intended), there are actually people complaining about this trade? The Jets had 6 CBs competing for 5 spots. Assuming that Barret, Dyson and Miller are locks, that means that Strait was competing against Drew Coleman (DP this year) and Ray Mickens (signed this year) for one of the final 2 spots. The Jets were so high on his progress after tutelage from vaunted DB guru Herman Edwards and Eric Mangini (he of the secondary coach of off the street CBs that won a Super Bowl in NE) that they moved him to safety this week in order to find him a roster spot. This guy was at best the 4th CB on the team...most likely he would have been cut in a few weeks. But people are complaining about trading an at best 4th CB for a potential starter at RB in Lee Suggs??? I don't get it. What is everyone else seeing that I am missing?
Huh ??? So your complaing about us not keeping a guy on our team whos nothing special ? riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiighhhhhhhhhhhttttttttttttttttttt
I love this move. Suggs is a capable back and we gave up a player from a position of strength. Good move Tangini.
 I've absolutely no idea but lets get down to brass tacks here.....what is Sugg's speed on Madden??
IMO, this is a low-risk, high-reward scenario. Lee Suggs, if healthy, can be an amazing player. The only problem is that he's somewhat injury prone. If he doesn't pan out, then who cares? We only lost a nickelback who was struggling to make the roster. We all knew on draft day that Strait had practically no upside...yet, why are there still fans so distraught in seeing him go?
He was "offically" a safety for all of 3 days. What a significant move! What do you mean he hasn't been any good. A nickelback is not supposed to be spectacular, he did his job.. Mickens and Strait are a wash, arguably the same player, with Strait having many more productive years ahead of him. And Drew Coleman? Are some of you really banking on this 6th rounder to be our answer as our #3 CB of the future?
I totally agree--what has Strait done to deserve all this praise? The jets have truckloads of DBs--this was a good move to unload one for a RB with huge upside--I like the trade.
you guys check out the highlights of Suggs on nyjets.com? If he stays healthy I will be LOVING this trade. The guy is the real deal when he is able to play. Those highlights rock.
Sorry off topic here.....but who is Corwin of Amber??? I'm very curious....By the way I love the trade. As much as I liked Strait, he wasn't going to get any better. Suggs, when healthy is a very good back
