I'm not a Geno lover, but over the last 4 games of the 2014 regular season, Geno was the 2nd highest rated QB in the NFL (Manning). This may be fools gold too b/c the last 4 games included games where he was scaled back, which limited his mistakes, plus the Miami game where he played lights out.

If Geno played 16 games the way he plays in Miami we wouldn't be talking QB right now...

I have no problem with Mac. But he saw what happened not too long ago: two GMs fired in two years. And one after only 2 seasons. Then all of a sudden out of the clear blue sky the Jets give Revis a 16 mil per season contract with 39 guaranteed. Something they fought with him before in the past about. IMO the owner told Idzik not to overpay Revis and to basically get rid of him and not re-sign him in 2014. And then when all of the criticism started getting handed out he let Idzik take all of the blame. Any big time contract or player being signed has to go through ownership. Woody's not involved in cheap deals but with Revis he knew exactly what was going on. And rumors were when he was hiring a GM that was part of the arrangement: eradicate yourself of a headache plus a guy coming off of a major injury. So to me Mac didn't sign Revis because he's a great Jets player. He signed him because of pressure and the owner doing a complete 360 on it when everyone was pointing the finger (and giving the finger) to him.

Look when Woody was hiring a GM two years ago he was turned down by several of the better candidates because they wouldn't accept his conditions. And one of them is David Caldwell whose had no success in Jax and the Qb he drafted very high last year had a bad rookie season. Now if he'd have taken the Jets job and had the same results: do you think he'd still be employed! And he was even allowed to hire his own head coach.

If we can't get Mariota because he's gone, I wouldn't mind trading down and grabbing Flowers outta Miami in the middle of the round. Then we could have a couple of picks in the next 20 or so after we pick Flowers. I would get the best O-lineman left and a WR. We'd really be doing something to help our team by rebuilding the line. Flowers would be our RT right outta camp and eventually replace D'Brick at LT.

Don't know how you could trade down though and guarantee Flowers would be still on the board wherever the spot is you trade down to

Well Woody writes the checks so he has some say in things. But smart owners stay out of player transactions and let a GM, HC etc make them. Woody took a back seat and let Casserly and Wolf get his GM and Coach. Before they both got here I am sure their agents had a talk with Johnson to stay on the sidelines or they were not signing. Don't think Boles and Mac are that stupid about this owner. A lot was written how Bowles needs two lock down corners to operate his system so we got two of the best in Mevis and Cromartie. Did this all have to do with "an owner 360 and pressure" ??again you create a political conspiracy out of 2 good signings

Cro isn't a lock down corner. Right now I'm watching a replay of Arizona vs the Broncos on NFLN and PM was going after Cro because he is so beatable. I have no doubt there were political reasons behind the signing of Revis. Woody did not want to pay him on that level. Cro who Jets fans keep crowing about was a popular signing but he isn't that good and was way overpaid. It's been a popularity contest of an off season for Woody but Revis will really help just like he did with NEP last season. As per his presser it was Woody's call to sign Revis.

He would have been SMART if he DIDN'T stay out of anything Idzik did. So what you say isn't always true.

Cro had a pro bowl year and that's good enough for me. Once you remove Revis how much difference is there among the rest?

Wasn't Cro an Alternative. He's ok but not worth that contract. My point again: they were political moves basically engineered by the owner. Right now I'm watching Houston vs Dallas from Week 5 with Fitz at Qb In the first quarter he threw a Geno style pick on a lazy throw.

I assume you mean an alternate and maybe he was, I really don't know, I do know that was his third straight and he is definitely worth the contract and the 7M guaranteed which is all we are into him for.

He made 3 mil with Arizona. He had a decent year but shouldn't be getting over double the money. Look I'm happy to get Revis back but based on what went down and the Woody presser to me it's obvious that Woody instructed Mac to sign Revis.

of course he should. he made 3 mil because he was hurt all of 2013..take a look at what corners make in the nfl these days.if you want to bitch, bitch about the 39 million guaranteed revis is going to make, not the paltry 7m cro will get.

Cro's getting only 7 mil guaranteed (his first season). Next year he's due to get 8 mil but that can be renegotiated. Originally the figure I heard was 20 mil guaranteed but according to Sportac its only 7. It's not such a bad deal for either party.

This is the fools gold who were the last 4 games against and what do they have to play for ? The titans and dolphin games cost us draft position against teams that had packed it in. The pats game was a lost and he lost to the vikings another bad team. Sorry but 3 of those teams sucked and packed it in by the time geno found his groove. Next year when teams are playing for real what will be the excuse then?

The point stands if you have a chance to get a possible franchise qb you take it at number 6 if not then the olb this team has been missing and look at QB in round 2.

I'd like the Jets to trade back, but I wouldn't target Flowers. I think he is too slow footed to play LT in the NFL. I'd rather target Collins, Peat, Clemmings, or Fisher.

IMO opinion TRADE DOWN--The jets have major needs at OL, RB, QB, and OLB. They need talented bodies. The fact that they are even CONSIDERING Willie Colon back at RG shows you how thin they are on OL--Brick and Nick are on the wrong side of 30, and the rest of the current cast on the OL scares no one. It is (past) time to give serious attention to the OL. Would also like to see a decent pick used at RB--Ivory is a bull but injury prone. Powell and Richardson are training camp fodder only.

The Jets have only one major need.

    QB.

That's the only position that matters.

Unless Fowler is there I think we need to trade down a few spots (8-14ish) and get extra picks. In the 1st i'd go Beasley or Gregory then either trade up in the 18-25 range and take and OT that can play guard this year or just wait and take one in the second. Great values for RBs in the 3rd & WR in 2nd and 4th. If we did get extra picks i'd also like to get an inside linebacker some where in there.

You could not be more wrong about Cromartie.

He was the best signing we made in this off-season.
