because of chad, coles has had one hell of a tough life in the nfl. he's been outstanding, but he's also taken a TON of huge hits and abuse waiting for balls to get to him or going up and getting balls thrown off target. I love LC and his heart, in fact i think the jets should pay him for all he's done for this team, but i also question how much he has left in the tank

We better pick up a proven VET WR. Last year when Coles wasnt playing Cotchery couldnt handle being #1 and Brad Smith couldnt catch.

yo if hes only going to get a thrid rounder, no way we trade him, even if its only for one year Id rather have him for one year then a third rounder. I think pairing him with Harris would greatly improve his play and then who knows, the face of our team is def worth more than a 3rd round pick.

    No way

Ugh no way I trade Vilma for a third even with his injury. I think he'll be fine by the time the season starts and rather give him one more shot next to Harris with some decent D-line.

yes I am all for trading Coles, its not like Kendal at all, I think that the jets have more flexability and I think Coles is an injury waiting to happen so I am hesitant to re sign him

I'm all for dealing Coles. Vilma and Coles are my two jerseys, so it looks like I have to make a new investment this year.

As for Vilma, who knows how bad the injury is. If he weren't hurt, we probably could have gotten a 2nd, but who knows.

    fellas ,
    this could work.
coles lives in jax during the off-season ( he had a " mansion " built right on the beach ).
so , we don't have to worry about him making any trade to jax " difficult " .
as long as the $'s are reasonable ; he'll sign a new contract with jax.

    cheers ~ ~ ~

Who could we take in the second round that will be more valuable then Coles has been to us?

Boy oh boy....nothing changes around here. I love how the Herm defenders yell and scream that it was Bradway who made so many poor front office decisions but it was "Herms players" that built the dynasty during his 5 years here.

Now he is building another one out in KC.

The only thing I remember about Herms last year here was the double digit injury report week after week.

If the Jets want to trade Coles and get a good draft pick for him..go for it...we still have no qb that can truly reach him anyway. Its like someone gives you a mercedes and you are 10 years old. What would you do with it...sell it.

Coles stays. You guys are as loyal to your players at the Patriots.

this is my first post, but i've been reading for awhile so i'll probbaly cross some lines here. most people on this site are way too demanding of this team. we gotta understand that they are still rebuilding and that talk of chad pennington taking us to a super bowl is ridiculous. as far as the LC situation, i'm pretty sure the JAGS run a 3-4 and they have a great front 7 so anyone from there could help our D. but theres nothing wrong with getting draft picks becuase the past 2 seasons our early draft picks have worked out pretty well.

Dude, this is NYC, no such concept exists here. Admitting to "rebuilding" while managing ANY NY team is tantamount to slitting your wrist in public.

Trading Coles does make some football sense, but after the way the Kendall situation was handled (even though I sided with Tannenbaum on that one), to trade another player after a contract dispute could set a very dangerous reputation around the league.

listen this isn't the yankees, this team hasn't won a superbowl in 40 years this team is rebuilding and mangini is gonna continue to do a hell of a job with it in the draft. he just has to start pickin up bigger free agents

I'd be pretty pissed if this went through unless we got alot in return, I don't want to see coles go.

Or hears this school of thought, if he performs well next to Harris, we could always resign him... we dont have to lose him for nothing, and i think we would be stupid for letting him get away because I think he has the chance to return to dominant form next to Harris in the middle... we should keep Vilma for this season, if he performs he should be resigned, and if he doesnt we probably should still resign him, because he would be better in middle of the 3-4 than just about anybody we would be able to sign anyways...
