You didn't specify a 5-yard slant earlier. Even so, I believe that he can. Jerry Rice wasn't a burner and he took it to the house often enough on short slants. Mims is as fast, if not faster, than Rice.
whoops. With all the Manish news I had fucking idiots on my mind. Yes I meant Bryce. He’s been visibly solid and although I don’t put too much stock into PFF, as you said he rates pretty highly.
So who like me is waiting to see Zuniga and Clarke get some action? I for one think we'll see something promising -- no Lorenzo Mauldins, Dakota Doziers here
Zuniga has been playing. Very average. Been in on a few nice plays behind the line. Kind of what I expected after he missed all of training camp and most of the first half of the season with an injury in his rookie year.
Aubrey? You must have been listening to Bread. LOL Seriously, I am very happy with Bryce Huff's contributions to the team. He is a solid football player. He may never be a stud pass rusher, or maybe not even a starter, but at a bare minimum he will be a quality designated pass rusher and a productive contributor. Add a topnotch Edge, and between Q. Williams, John Franklin-Myers, Huff, that Edge, and the right DC, and the Jets could suddenly find themselves with a very good and disruptive pass rush. I think he has the potential to become a solid starter. I was one of the few saying positive things about him following the draft after I watched footage of him play in college.
the thing is your talking known commodity vs a hopefully the player drafted will be great, or good or functional. the positive is more than 1 guy for 1 and longer on rookie contracts. it worked out for the dallas cowboys but that was a long time ago. and a much heftier price. im glad jamal adams got away from this shit show and is finally healthy again and being a playmaker. i dont know why guys hate ex jets. not that you are hating him, thats just a general comment.
I get where you're coming from but I feel like JD hasn't given us a reason to not trust him with draft picks yet, especially early ones. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that both of the 1sts we got from Jamal are going to result in starter-quality+ players, they may not be All-Pros but they'll be good players, hopefully, at positions of need (IOL/WR/CB/EDGE/etc.). Plus, we could add another borderline starter-quality/solid depth player in the 3rd. My whole stance on the Jamal trade is this, any value we get from these picks is going to be better value than Jamal would have given us for the next 4-5 years at a 15-20M cap hit. Jamal is a great player, arguably one of the top 5 safeties in the league, but we aren't in a position to pay a box safety that much money.
good stuff, didn’t know about back in the day with Jumbo too! Actually McGovern had a strong day PFF wise too so it seemed like he had a hand in the very strong run game as well. I’d be interested to see if the Jets can really start making their run game towards Mt Becton more of a staple for the last few games. Just to see what the future maybe.
it's more then pure speed. robby wasn't able to do that either. you need more shiftiness and agility. OBJ is unparalleled as a WR for that
before the season started i wondered if they would put Mekhi on the right side to help ease the transition to the pros and since pre-draft the questions, if any, were things like how would he handle speed rush etc. then i got to thinking, the best way to handle a speed rusher is to run right at them. They need to think a little bit more in that situation which helps in a number of ways. First, it slows them down a tad in and of itself as they try and diagnose the play and figure out do they need to rush or tackle. Second, it speeds up relatively speaking the defender. Then in this case you throw in that Mekhi is pushing a recent #4 draft pick 10 yards out and it starts to make more sense. Put a nasty road grader next to him at LG and you can start to impose your will - or so the thinking goes
to be honest i've barely seen him. that said, when we drafted him we knew he was dinged a bit. So he mostly gets a pass from me this year. Hopefully, he can join the party of contributors if not impact players
68 snaps in last 5 games (only ones he played in). 2 tackles and 2 assists. He has not even been noticeable on the field. He was and still remains the biggest chance of being the first draft pick from this year to bust and be out of the league.
I like what I'm seeing from young guys like huff. If huff is able to replace Jordan Jenkins past few years of production that's an absolute win. You don't find stud pass rushers in UDFA but if we can find average/good players there. This really helps to fill out this roster whilst we hunt for a top pass rusher. Whilst we all focus on these top three rounds, it will be great to see if we can really fill this roster with good cheap finds. We have really lacked any form of talent evaluation since idzik arrived outside 3rd round bar what Robby? Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
i can agree with that. its just frustrating to see guys who were jets move on and be top players at their positions. leonard williams and demario davis being 2 others. ill admit i didnt like demario davis when he was here and will take the hit of being wrong on that one for sure. i hope the picks pan out and once gase is gone the team can breath a sigh of relief and start really rebuilding.
Impressive. I wish the Jets had a QB and would use the first pick on the big tackle from Oregon Sewell. The Jets run game would be the best in the league.
Another impressive game from youngsters Bryce Hall and Javelin Guidry. Guidry is really making me re-evaluate my mock off-season resign of Brian Poole. I think he’s worth checking out for a full time slot role. Save us even more $$$$. Uye on Zuniga. I don’t think he got a snap. Except for an offsides penalty.
