Doesn't he want to get paid? Let teams like the Bengals overpay for him and solidify their mediocrity for years to come.
Their offensive line imploded which led to his QB getting killed, a terrible QB can do wonders to a WRs stat page
Hell if I know. I just know that PFT (yes, not very reliable but still) has been speculating that he may get cut at some point before the season starts and that if it happens, the Jets may be all over that. I have mixed emotions about Bulger (fyi- This thread is about Holt. I hope talking about Bulger isn't considered "hijacking" the thread).
You missed the update they wouldn't save any cap space by releasing him and would have to take an additional 2.5 million cap hit if he is released, that tells me that no they can't afford to release him unless they really want to start all over without caring of the expense
For the right price, definitely! It says a lot when a star WR stays on 1 team as long as Holt has and you never hear about any trouble with him. From all reports, he's a great teammate on and off the field. Has mentored younger receivers like Kevin Curtis into very good players. Not as fast as he once was but one of the craftiest receivers in the league.
i'd be very happy with Holt at a reasonable price, here's why: He's arguably a HOF WR, just a year older than Coles and last year was really just an off-year for him. His team didn't have their ish together at all last year. Might be opportune to get him at a bargain price.
I just don't get the obsession with old, washed-out, has-been WRs that are released. TO, and now Holt? I'd prefer to have a HoF WR AT HIS PRIME, not PAST his prime.
I woudl sign on for Holt. I've always been a big fan of his, and if he has some gas left in the tank, he'd be a welcome addition, especially with the youth the Jets currently have at QB.
Since when is WR at the age of 32 washed up? TO is 35 and still has gas in the tank, Harrison started slowing down at 35. Rice didn't fade until he was 40! The reason for Holt's poor numbers was the guy getting him the ball got hurt and their OL was swiss cheese and the reason he was released because the Rams needs to blow it up and start all over.
Wow...you are truely the 2008 TGG Rich Kotite "Least Knowledgeable" Award Winner. How do you just assume that? Did we sign Haynesworth or something that I don't know of? Lets see what we did this off season. Brett retires = $13m saved Rhodes/Pace renegotiations = $10m saved Brandon Moore release/resign = $3m saved Coles released = $6m saved Barret/Baker released = $5m saved Bunch of other shitloadss released = $2m+ saved Total savings = atleast $40 mil... We were predicted to be about $10mil over the cap leaving us $30m under after these moves. We signed Bart for about $6-7m in 09. Sheppard = $3 mil Leonhard = $2 mil That leaves us about another $18 mil...still. We will only need about $6 mil to sign the draft picks. Give or take, we can still make a big signing of about $5-8 mil and still have money left over. Not sure where you come up with these statements when you have nothing to back it up with.
^^^Having said that, Torry Holt isn't nearly as good as he used to be. Not sure what the reason was, but we clearly don't have any QB who is better than Bulger IMO. Maybe the OL is better but not the QB. Pass...too much money will be required. Rather draft a second round WR.
