Two names I haven't heard yet that could help us out: Mark Anderson OLB - 10 sacks for the Patsies last year + 1.5 sacks in the SB Ben Grubbs OG - not as flashy as Nicks but made the pro bowl and would probably be a slightly cheaper alternative to Nicks As for some other names, sign me up for Meechum, Benson. and Lowery if the price is right.
I don't understand all the love for Meachem. He's a decent deep threat who put up decent numbers in one of the leagues most explosive offense.
These two guys were huge for the Pats last year....I cant believe Anderson played as well as he did for them.
I love Grubbs, but hes gonna be expensive as heck. The Ravens are pretty adamant about bringing him back though. The big question with him is how would we shuffle our line around, he doesn't project well at tackle at all, and with Slauson hurt for a while he wouldn't really have time to practice @ RT whatsoever. Although it does open the door to sending Moore packing (which saves another 3 million in cap space). The idea of being able to get Grubbs for less than 5 million net isn't too shabby. Hmm I looked at Yandas contract from last year, 5 years 32.5 million. And hes significantly better than Grubbs. Think we could get Grubs for 6-6.5 million/yr ? He would only cost 3-3.5 million net as an upgrade over Moore, and be a long term solution
locker room dynamics are worth about a can of coke on a balance sheet. Tell me about numbers and impact.
he is not bad but he was due to make about $17 or 18m this year (final year and back loaded contract) and the Cards need to try to clear cap space to sign Manning (and anyway he isnt worth that kind of money).
Former top 10 pick.Has started since day one in Zona. He's an above average run blocker who can anchor, but sometimes struggles with foot speed in pass pro. He's started at both right and left tackle, looking much better at right. Problem Cards have is he's coming off a lousy year(on the left side),clearly needs to go back to RT, but is being paid as an elite blindside protector(Sounds alot like Leonard Davis & LJ Shelton,no?). No way he stays. He'd be an upgrade over Hunter, and he fits the scheme, but he'd need to play alot more consistent to make it in this market.
This is what got the Jets in trouble last season. Not saying that the Jets shouldn't get rid of vets if they think it is a plus but they damn near strangled themselves last season by indiscriminately removing veteran presence from the locker room in return for supposed talent upgrades.
Kamerion Wimbley alert: www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3685/kamerion-wimbley League sources tell NFL Network's Jason La Canfora that the Raiders will formally announce the release of OLB Kam Wimbley on Tuesday. Kevin Boss' release actually hasn't been formally announced yet. Per La Canfora, Boss and Wimbley's releases will be announced together. Wimbley will hit the market as a 28-year-old pass rusher with 16 sacks over the past two seasons and versatility to fit both a 3-4 defense as a linebacker and a 4-3 scheme as a defensive end. Wimbley would be an awfully nice fallback plan for teams that miss out on top free agent pass rusher Mario Williams. Yes, please.
