Isn't that Rhetorical? ^^^This Schotty will be our OC next year so no sense in getting your panties in a bunch of possible OC candidates. A playoff appearance will solidify another year or more with Schotty at the controls. However, I am hoping Moore plans on spending more time with the team, especially in the off-season.
The Jets are a top 10 scoring offense with a 3rd year QB who lost 2 of his 3 top receivers from last season in a very shortened off season. That 3rd year QB is on pace to break the Jets all-time single season TD record. The offense also lost a very good RT and replaced him with a guy who should probably still be a backup and a HOF FB and replaced him with a mid-round pick. The defense returned every starter with the exception of a guy at the tail end of his career being replaced with a 1st round pick and it's ranked in the lower half of the league in points allowed. Why does the offense get so much focus while the defense seems to be given a pass? Do people expect us to score more points than every team in the league with our personnel?
The only way he's not back next year is either a) if we have an epic collapse where the offense is the primary reason for the collapse and b) if he's offered a HC job somewhere and accepts it.
I already stated we have done well in the red zone this season. Currently our offence ranks: 25th - in total yards 21st - in passing 21st - in rushing Losing Braylon has been a blow to the offence, so has losing Woody no doubt, B. Smith not so much. The defense isn't given a pass, our D is WELL above average this year and has been arguably the best D in the NFL the past 2 years with a top ranked rushing attack. Yet with all of this our passing game has been sub-par to say the least, that's inexcusable that the offence can't pick up the D a little bit after what they've done over the past 2 years. We keep leaning on the D to pull us out of bad situations, that's not how it's suppose to work
I have been saying this for several weeks now. I even notice some Schotty Haters are beginning to accept reality. But not all, as in the OP here.
I hate to break it to everyone, but Schotty isn't going anywhere, the Jets are 6th in points per game with an average of 25.2 ppg.
Apparently some people are more concerned with yards than points. I'm not sure how that makes any sense when the point is to score more points than your opponent.
I agree, this is the only issue remaining to complain about. I think this boils down to the "style point" argument. The Jets win but with low style points. I agree with this completely. Although it would be funny to see Rex get in a fight during the game, it wouldn't do well for the Club.
Can we stop with this losing Edwards thing? He can't even get on the field this year. He would not have been on the field for the Jets either. If the Jets signed Edwards, he would have been on the sidelines with his perpetual boo boo knee and Burress would have signed somewhere else. Then where would the Jets be? It would have been Holmes, Kerley and Turner and ??????
How do you think we're 6th in points with a 25th ranked offence anyways? With a good defense that stops drives, forces turnovers, and gives us a short field. It's not like we magically score all these points with so few yards accumulated.
I don't see it as the Jets have the 25th ranked offense. The Jets are 6th in points scored in the league. Our defense was better last year and even better the year before but we never cracked top 10 in offense. The Ravens and Steelers have better defenses than the Jets, why haven't they scored more points than the Jets? Good defense does not equate a lot of points. At some point you have to give the offense credit. Good defense usually equals not giving up a lot of points. We're in the bottom half of the league in points allowed. I suppose you'll say that's because of the offense? Are you going to argue that we are a high scoring team because of the defense and we give up an above average number of points because of the offense?
