Yea Im like 90% sure Leon is gone now. All this talking him up, the signing of LT (another back who can catch), and still looking at another power RB. Love you Leon thanks for the 2nd round pick.

    * Tanny loves to play misdirection.

** We only get a 2nd if another team is willing to give one up. Not a certainty.

I am not impressed by Gerhart. His upper bodies moves too much. I like my running backs to be smooth in their breaks. This would be a mistake IMHO.

a third string rb becomes top priority?if leon leaves we might use that 2nd round pick on a rb.i honestly don't see us drafting a rb unless he leaves

Where was Greene sitting on the depth chart back in week 1?

With how much we rely on the run, yes, quality RB depth becomes our first priority. Running the football is our offense, and it will continue to be until Mark fully develops into a 25-30 attempts/game QB. And we don't know he'll do that this year.

You need more of an insurance policy than a 31 year old RB, and a guy who's got durability concerns.

i'm gonna say a starting de and some secondary help is still a little bigger need.i think we are still a db away from stopping pey-pey from carving us up again

I'm expecting Tannenbaum to move Leon and, hopefully, Clemens on draft day by the latest. Hopefully he can pull in a second round pick from that. That is where the Jets will get Gerhart, or a trade down.

Yea, that would be the best case scenario.

I don't know what team in their right mind would trade for Clemens, though. Unless you mean just to shore up a Leon for a 2nd deal...

I also wouldn't mind Hardesty at 61, if we miss out on Gerhart.

Not that i'm disagreeing with you....but in all honesty, do you really think some team will trade for Clemens? The only tie outside of the Jets is in Cleveland....and they've been up to their knards in QB movement since the offseason began.....

I just don't think Clemens goes anywhere....as much as i hate thinking that....

With regards to Gerhart...it's been mentioned already...but i agree with you, i don't think the Jets look at him unless Leon is signed by another team...and we get their 2nd rounder.

A team with a 2nd round pick, desperate for QB depth, and wanting something to go along with Leon might...MIGHT...do it. But yea, that "hopefully" bit was more out of desperation of getting Clemens off the team rather than an assessment of his actual value.

If i were Tanny...I'd ship Clemens somewhere for a SuperSized BigMac meal.......if we're talking straight up value here.

    Bottom line on this thread?

If racial prejudices drop Gerhart to our pick in the fourth round...

    God bless racism!

And I don't see why your name doesn't appear on the list for a combine you supposedly 'competed at'.

Why does it have to be one or the other? Maybe because he's not a fullback. He's a running back. He's never played fullback. In fact, he turned down scholarships to schools that viewed him as a fullback/linebacker prospect. Like I said, having him in a two back set where he's not used as the lead blocker is one thing. I just don't want to see him used as the lead blocker. And this...

...doesn't sound like you want him to be used AT ALL as a RB. You're making him a FB, an H-back, and a TE. I'm wondering whether you've watched him at all before making such an absurd proposition. You're essentially asking a team to take away everything that makes him a viable NFL prospect. He's not being looked at as a pass catcher, he's not being looked at as a blocker, he's being looked at as a RB who hits the hole hard and carries defenders. He was the most productive RB in college football last season doing that, and you want to bring him in and ask him to do something ENTIRELY different. That's beyond ridiculous.

So because you went to open football tryouts (and got cut) you know more about football than most people?

Emmitt Smith is one of best football players ever, and he's borderline retarded when it comes to talking about football.

I don't give a rat's ass who you know. I had a few classes with one of the NFC's best kick returners, and he has nothing to do with the things that I know about this game.

Haha if this guy is legitimate claiming going to the CFL combine as a sort of "success" or proof of knowledge of football, he is wrong. Three years ago at age 16! Myself and many other top athletes in B.C. went to their camp and trained with them and played with them, yet I will never claim to know more about football then most people.

I could really see our rushing attack looking a lot like the 2008 Ravens with Gerhart.

In 2008 the Ravens had a great 3 headed monster going on with McGahee, Rice, and McClain all splitting the carries quite well. McGahee had about 700 rushing yards, McClain 900, and Rice was doing a mix of recieving and rushes with about 800 all purpose yards.

I mean if Gerharts role as "fullback" would be similar to McClains in 08, that could possibly work out.

McClain lined up as fullback, halfback, tight end, and h-back in the slot. If Gerhart was used in a similar fashion I dont think thatd be a bad idea. But wed probably need to get a mediocre second string fullback as well when T-Rich retires
