Ohh..he slipped in practice..CUT HIM..He dropped a pass..CUT HIM..he missed a tackle ...CUT HIM..He threw an INT..SHOOT HIM..
I'm looking forward to seeing how he comes back from this injury. Obviously, no injury is really a "good thing," but maybe Justin was able to improve what he does off the field in terms of preparation, now that he had to be there for so long. We all know what he can do in terms of his physical ability, if he makes strides mentally, he can absolutely handle that #2 CB role opposite Revis.
Its not just Jets fans though, its the organization as well. Too many times they've let good young players go only to watch them go on to have Pro-Bowl careers with other teams.
There was an interesting article on Pociask in the Star Ledger, and in the article they pointed out that Bill Parcells sort of had a rule: "If a guy doesn't show you what he's got by his 3rd year, he's probably not gonna show you." The article said Mangini is a believer in this also, and they referred to Pociask as one guy who needs to get it going this year (or else). But Miller would fall into that same 3-year category, although his injury clearly set him back a year. He really needs a good camp this year and kick it to the next level if he ever wants the big bucks.
This was why I was so surprised when we cut Kowalewski and kept Pociask. I mean, that guy had actually done some decent things with limited action last season. Pociask was invisible.
I would be a little more patient. How many games has he actually played at CB? I understand, fourth year, time to show something. But let's wait and see how he does in actual games.
Following your logic, the Jets will be going into Year 5 without waiting for Miller to do something (as you chalk this year up to coming back from the ACL tear). That is too long to wait, hope and wish a player has what it takes to be in the NFL. Some players just don't make it...that's okay. All this stuff about Miller in last year's TC...it's just practice and drills. He has done nothing on the field during a game as a CB to suggest he is going to be a #4 CB let alone #2 CB. No position is simple in the NFL. However, CB and RB are generally considered the two easiest positions to pick-up in the NFL. There have been a number of 1st round CBs in the past five years that have had an immediate impact in the NFL. Miller, who everyone professed the Jets stole because he had "1st round talent" (and I was excited about them getting at the time), is going into year 4 have contributed zero at the CB position. Disappointing, but it is what it is.
Miller is my favorite jet.. He's fast , has a little swagger and his teammates love him.. He's an athlete hands down something just hasn't clicked for my boy yet... Maybe a switch is in order.. He can play safety although he is a little smaller but he's no smaller then donte whitner or bob sanders.. He can hit has a mean streak and this position is probably better suited for his injury.. My point is I want him to stay a jet..
You neglected to mention that he's got a brain the size of a pea, and that he only uses half of it. With his poor tackling in years' past I'd hate to think that he would be our last line of defense before an opposing player could hit the open field. No thanks...

Actually, I was suggesting it was worth waiting a couple of dozen reps to see how Justin Miller does, not four years. Also, I hardly think you can count a year on Injured Reserve as a year in which "He has done nothing on the field during a game as a CB to suggest he is going to be a #4 CB let alone #2 CB." It is interesting that you think that the cornerback position is an easy one to pick up. I don't think I've ever heard that. Who do you think believes that? Fabian Washington? Terence Newman? Dieon Sanders? In a lot of NFL systems, the challenge of playing cornerback -- especially "out there on an island" -- requires a pretty special breed of man who has a mental and physical resilience that's a cut above the average guy who likes football. You have to see how many times those heralded Aaron Ross's and Darrelle Revis's get whipped and then come back and do some whipping themselves so see how exceptional they are. If we check it closely, I think we'll find that there are a majority of NFL coaches who truly believe "you can never have too many cornerbacks". In my opinion, CB is not an easy position to survive, let alone play well. I think after six days, we should give all the cornerbacks the benefit of the doubt for a few dozen more reps before we start pissing on their graves. Personally, it always makes me happy when I see a cornerback play well, especially on the NYJs. You can have all the technique and resilience in the world, but if you don't have enough speed, a la David Barrett and Andre Dison, you have to be able to get over having to wave at Randy Moss coasting away from you down the field, and still play ball.
I continue to be utterly baffled by Jets fans who think Justin Miller is an adequate #2 cornerback. He has done absolutely nothing to evidence this.
I see where Justin Miller got two interceptions today in practice. Not so bad for a cornerback in his 9th day of TC. How many INTs has Barrett got now? How about Derrelle? Don't know. I think we could actually get away with cutting Justin Miller a few millimeters of slack for a day or two, though. Maybe it wouldn't cost us too much, eh?
If he is not showing the promise we expected from him, allow some of the others to get some reps with the 1st team 'D'. He has talent and can play the game, not to mention he is wicked in the return game. keep for nickle and ST.
There is a Revis article on NewYorkJets.com right now. He's having the camp we expect from the former 14th overall pick. Barrett is old, so don't expect much. I think there is some hidden hatred from the Herm/Bradway era people channel through Miller. "Patient Fans" is an oxymoron in football.
Here is a quarter... buy a clue... I mean wow... throw him away, he's coming off an injury that was a major injury, getting his legs back under him... He had a great camp last year and was looking like he was finally maturing into being the CB that he was originally planned to be... your supposed to get burned in camp... so you can work on fundamentals, get timing down, learn where you are on the field again... thats why it's training camp... I love how a ton of people on here have these knee jerk posts on this board and want to just throw people away like this is fantasy football... unreal
