I don't like McKnight all too much but damn...you spent a decent draft pick on him. Use him for his strengths. Same with Kerley. One thing the kid can do really well is make moves in open space. Let him catch the ball in the flats a few times. Why does every speedy guy with moves just go to waste on this team? O yea, I forgot, Brian fucking Schottenheimer!
Times sure have changed since last year. Most of you people were all set to give up on him after a few weeks of training camp.
Here's the thing about McKnight. He's someone we won't know about for sure until he gets opportunities. He's earned those opportunities through his play. The key now is, does he get rewarded with the chance to play behind the 1st team OLine? I think part of the problem is lack of play design including him on offense. The focus has been Greene for every carry and LT for every pass out of the backfield. McKnight deserves the chance to now get into some plays during practice and have a couple of shots during the game. Beyond that, if Rex is true to what he's saying, the offense will be refocused on the ground and pound mentality. If we want a healthy backfield for any sort of playoff run, we're going to need to have at least two guys sharing the reps. I'm very much in favor of a Greene/McKnight tandem. I think that gives us a very good mix of abilities, especially if both can catch coming out of the backfield. Add in LT and that could become a strength that helps give Sanchez a little more time to throw on passing plays. Let's be honest, the rushing offense couldn't really be much worse. We're ranked 30th in yards.
It's pretty sad that we're considering Joe McKnight our best playmaker. Is Holmes still on this team?
