John Clayton's blog Dwight to Jets: The Jets made an interesting signing in getting Patriots wide receiver Tim Dwight, who agreed to a four-year, $4.2 million contract. Dwight wanted to reunite with new Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, whom he got to know during his days with the Chargers. Dwight likes some of the things Schottenheimer might do with him in the offense. Plus, Dwight will be a big asset on special teams
Not Signed yet? Found this on JC's sister board Patriots site "Hold the PHONE on Dwight. The deal is NOT done. According to a source familiar with the situation, Patriots Insider has been told the Dwight deal is not finalized and the Patriots WR/KR may end up continuing his free agency tour. a good move. Dwight's not the most talented guy but he'll bust his butt every play out there...and he went to Iowa.
According to ESPN, it is a done deal. WR/KR Tim Dwight's contract is worth $4.2 million. The money is spread over four years and includes a $750,000 signing bonus. He's expected to handle kickoff return duty and could push Justin Miller, who may start at cornerback next season, for the punt return job. Mar. 22 - 12:24 pm et
i guess this means we're not going to re-sign Harry Williams, Jr. He was our best WR. Oh well, at least we still have Dante Ridgeway and Jovan Witherspoon.
Has anyone stated that signing Dwight will turn the team around? No. He is what he is and that is a role player. He will help out with returns and provide some speed if they go with 4 wideouts. Last year with NE he had 19 catches for 332 Yards, 17.5 avg, 3 TD's. 7 catches for 20+ yards, 2 catches for 40+ yards and most importantly 14 of his 19 catches were for 1st downs. For his career he avg 23 yds on kick returns and 9.7 yards for punt returns. Sounds like a decent role player to me.
If nothing else, Tim Dwight is fun to watch... seems like he runs as hards as he can and never slows down.
Not sure if this article or one like it has been posted yet, but it is relevant to this thread and I thought that the "Aww nobody wants to sign with the Jets aww" crowd would enjoy it.
