Frankly, I don't understand the hate on the kid. I think Lowery belongs to the franchise as a solid #2 CB, not as a safety, nor as a nickel/dime back.

Think about it. One thing I can tell you with Rex Ryan calling the defensive plays is that, this team will generate its share of pressure, which will be more than just immense. In that situation, CBs are more or less protecting the sidelines, not going deep. That's what safeties are for.

Ok. Lowery does lack elite "burner" speed. I can give you that. But speed alone does not make a good corner. What he lacks with the burst of speed, he more than makes up with his instincts, awareness and solid technique. With the proper pressure from the front seven, Lowery will NEVER be exposed deep down the field alone. That's the trademark of Sutton-patented 1-2-8 scheme, where EVERY secondary looks horrible.

wrong, he couldnt be the #2 in manginis system. ryan will have us putting pressure on the qb so lowery wont have to cover a guy for 7 seconds and shit. he has good technique and can tackle. if he doesnt have to cover his guy all day i think he will do fine as our #2. although i wouldn't mind playing him at safety if say jenkins drops to the packers and we trade up to get him to play opposite revis and have lowery play saftey next to rhodes.
