If Alan Branch falls, I'd be very tempted to do that trade, if possible. I know we could use depth, but Branch would be a perfect fit for our D.
yea im definetly hearing the grumbling's myself.. leberfield got everyone worried. he said we just gave a 2nd and didnt get a pick back.
Great trade/signing. Comes relatively cheap and you have a known commodity. More good things from your FO.
Wow i'm amazed...Thomas Jones is a GOOD running back and the Jets still get Chicago's 2nd rounder in the process? I love his running style, he has pretty good speed and is very good in the trenches, compound that with Leon's speed and shiftiness and i'm very happy to see this... Awesome trade, much props to the FO.
Just for kicks: vs NYJ he ran for 121 yards at 5.3 ypc vs NE he ran for 99 yds at 4.3 ypc vs Mia he ran for 69 yds at 3.5 ypc....Note Grossman had 3 ints and put the Bears in a 28-13 hole vs Buf he ran for 100 yds at 5.2 ypc
It still wouldn't be a "horrible" trade if it were straight up. It wouldn't be the best value but it definately would not be considered "horrible".
i cant believe that so many ppl think this is a great trade! better backs than jones werent gonna garner a 2nd rounder, and we give up a pick thats almost as good as a first rounder for him. he cannot break the big one. he gets caught from behind if he manages to break one (just look at the super bowl). the FO could have gotten 2 of the best 37 defensive players in the draft....instead we have thomas fuckin jones. i hope they dont give him a big extension on his contract. the guys just a dick. he played me-me-me with the bears last offseason because he didnt like the contract he signed...so he sat out of mini camps. not a good move imo. i hope to god it turns out as good as some of you think.
At first I didnt like our 2nd only for him. Then I heard we get their 2nd so we really only lose a few spots and get a good starting running back. Well....this is f**kin awesome. Tannenbaum is the man.
exactly what we would be baiting? houston is unproven, and when he got his shot he got hurt. maybe we could dangle him for mr irrelevant!!!! :breakdance: seriously though, houston should stay on the team. his contract isnt big, and he is capable of standing around on the sideline in case of emergency.
Draft value of pick # 37= 530 Draft Value of pick # 63= 236 Sounds a steal to me. Also TJ played split time for most of his career. he carried the majority of the load in Chi and got payed less than Benson. Do you really think he should have not wanted more $$$?
I don't know where to start... A) We didn't trade a 2nd rounder for Jones- we swapped 2nd rounders. B) I'd be pretty ticked off if management favored cry-baby Benson over me, who came to Chicago for peanuts. Look at the reaction of most Bear fans. For you to cast judgement on his character (he's a guy who comes from very humble beginnings and remains pretty damn humble) is ridiculous. C) Who'd you want? Turner- an unproven backup. My goodness, Jets fans are impossible to please. Virtually every unbiased source has praised this trade. I'm starting to think that if Tannenbaum traded a 7th rounder for Peyton, people would still have reason to complain.
