The blocking was great yesterday. Jones had some good holes to run through and he ran with some aggression.

Thomas Jones did great. The OL still needs a lot of work. Faneca, Mangold, and Woody had some dumb penalties.

They will work better together next week, I believe.

I'm sorry but I disagree. TJ is sorely overrated imo. Leon Washington should be starting. TJ has very poor vision and patience.

He needs a huge hole to do anything. Even then - I see him too often tripping over his own feet getting through it. He doesn't have the burst to wait that half a second for the whole to develop and then burst through it.

Maybe I am being a little harsh with the criticism because TJ isn't "that bad". It's just that ideally I see him as a short yardage/GL back on our team. I'd much prefer that Leon get the bulk of carries.

TJ ran very well yesterday. Had some 10+ yard runs and got into the endzone.

With the same O line and defense playing, Leon didn't look good at all.

So I wouldn't be so quick to bash TJ. If he plays anywhere near that for most of the season, the Jets will be in excellent shape.

In all fairness to Leon, whom I think is a very good weapon for us, he did nothing when as to run the ball yesterday. Jones is going to be the guy for the time being.

theres some times where holes open and he has a cutback lane and never uses it. his vision is definitely lacking.

oddly enough after looking slow during the preseason he turns into a complete different back in the open field. but like i said due to a lack of vision on some plays he just lowers his head and smashes into the line.

definitely looked good but id like to see more improvement especially against a more proven defense.

I really didn't think Jones looked very good yesterday. He was on my offseason bubble list next to Stooge. Until the touchdown, he looked downright horrible. No speed, no moves, and he was consistently going down on first contact.

When my Dolfan friend and I saw the stats after the game, we were both surprised. He quipped that he gets "deceptive yards". And boy howdy. I bet Chatman would have gotten 130 yards if he had started that game. TJ just really isn't that good.

He was all right but I don't want to be too quick and jump to any conclusions based on one week.

you didn't see the cutbacks? The ability to stay upright and find another hole, he hit the holes that were wide open with good speed. He got tripped up on one run that could have been huge but thats the breaks... 4.9 yrds per carry, he did well.

TJ wasn't fantastic like Adrian Peterson or anything. But the guy was solid. 100 yards and a TD is a very good day.

If we can count on him to give us 75 or more yards per game, the Jets rushing attack will be fine. Especially if he can get into the enzone on a semi-regular basis.

That is my live evaluation...I have to watch the recorded game. I will look for TJ's cutback contributions at that time. I give all the credit to the line at this point.

The word horrible is definitely too strong. Looking at the holes that were there though TJ's performance was disappointing. What can I say? I feel that as a feature back TJ leaves something to be desired. He isn't a breakaway threat, he doesn't have great vision, he isn't very shifty and he doesn't bowl people over.

IMO he is serviceable. Against a better defense the holes aren't going to be as big as they were yesterday. Leon is the better RB. Give him 20 carries a game and he'll match TJ's production and be a bigger threat to break one.

OK...horrible is a strong word that should be reserved for the likes of Barlow. TJ is just not that good.

Good yesterday against Miami about a 150 and a couple of 20 plus runs that were there for the taking. He was fine good description. I thought he left a lot of yards out there. The blocking was very good, Miami was over pursuing like mad and he had lots of opportunities for biger runs that just didn't happen.

During the game thread I was screaming to run the ball more I couldn't believe the holes that were being created.

I believe Jones is okay, a real good NFL back would have had a huge day yesterday.

Thats really the difference between this year's projected TJ and last years. He is a good RB, but he's not one of the special ones that can survive with a less than stellar line.

Thank god for the stellar line.

    I've always been a
Jones supporter, he looked good yesterday and will I'm sure, have a big season. He does go down a little quick sometimes, that my only real problem with him. Other than that he looked solid yesterday.

How could his yards be "deceptive"? what was it like 4.5 per carry with a long of only 14? It's not like he had one big run and did nothing else. If you're geting 4.5 per carry that's pretty dam good.
