We won so who cares? We played like shit all around(on offense that is) but a win is a win. It's just good this was Cincinatti and not NE.

    I'm happy with the win.

My only complaint is really more of a warning... if the Jets keep rushing 3 on defense all season then when we get to the part of the schedule where we play the better teams (not Oakland) then those teams are going to carve up our defense and make us look stupid.

Still, the Jets run defense was fantastic today and other than the drive at the end of the 2nd half the defense was more or less lights out. Great job to the personnel but I really would like to see them getting into the habit of blitzing more.

Baker missed a blocking assignment, but Favre had plenty of time to either throw it away or take a sack, but he did neither and fumbled.

I thought Favre had an ok game. He threw a couple up for grabs where the receiver and the defender had a fifty-fifty shot that I thought the recievers could have adjusted better for, but ended in ints (the second one was more like a good punt because I highly doubt we would have attempted a FG there). Favre still made some excellent plays when he had to and did his part to help the team win. His stats would have looked a little better if Coles caught his second throw in the endzone. It was nice to see TJ get 3 TDs. I would have liked to seen better running by the team overall on the 29th rated rushing D (6th against the pass). Eventually, we will need a running game.

Overall, a win is a win. St. Louis had a huge upset on Washington today. Miami also lost to the winless Texans. I thought it would be a pretty close game and it was.

Favre needs to learn that, sometimes, you just gotta take the sack.

Coles with a miraculous catch but missing some others that should have been caught.

Our CBs did not look great today (except on the blitz) but, given that the Bengals have nasty WRs, I think that's excusable.

What game were you watching? Marty's play calling was average at best. At times it was outright awful. Enough with the fake screen and draw play. Enough with the actual screens. They were hardly working. We would have scored more had the play calling not been so redundant.

Well, I like the idea of using screens and draws to make sure safeties don't get too comfortable back there, but at some point, the offense needs to make use of that setup and go down the field.

You have to realize that until the Jets win a Super Bowl, no one deserves credit for anything. We haven't had a great player since Namath, think about it that way.

Thats like saying that Joe Maddon doesn't deserve credit for the Rays amazing turn around. Worst to 1st in less than 1 year.

The Jets have had many of great players since Broadway Joe... How about Curtis Martin? It's a team game and as a team, it's been a long time since the Jets had the best TEAM in the league but @ the same time...Winning the whole thing is not the only thing that matters. One game @ a time and here in 2008...I like our chances because we play tough in the trenches (Both sides of the ball) And we have a HOF QB in Favre to lead this team.

And you know what? I give credit to the Jets front office for going out and getting players such as... Favre, Faneca, Jenkins, Pace, Richardson and more during the offseason. Lets not act like...Just because the Jets havent won the SB in a while, that NO ONE deserves credit...If anything, the fans deserve some credit for sticking with the team.

Offense out of synch, defense blitzes were not effective.
Offensive and Defense 3rd down conversions were much better.

The Rays win because of Maddon. The Jets win DESPITE Mangini and company.

We had what? 5 sacks today? We were more than "Effective" in terms of putting pressure on the QB.

How can you say that? Mangini is the perfect 3-4 Coach...He understand the types of players we need to run a solid 3-4 Defense...Just ask Kris Jenkins, Ellis, Pace, David Harris....How can you say that? Without Mangini, this Jets defense would still be giving up over 100+ yards on the ground.

Mangini also understands that you must win in the trenches...Just ask Ferguson, Mangold, Faneca and Richardson.

I think the Jets coaching staff is below average. Not even in the top 16. Not everyone can have the best coaches in the league. At least we can be happy that there's a ton of talented players on the team.

I'll be the first to admit how much I chastise Sutton, and I'll also admit that he had a solid plan today. Having said that, I'm still not convinced with his 3rd Down calls. Too often, the QB has plenty of time to throw and find guys who get open.

When this happens in against a QB not named Fitzpatrick, against a team that's not the Bengals who have 0 wins, then the result may not be so nice.

Shotty was awful today. The Jets won this game on defense and special teams ( giving the team great field position all day). The Jets run on almost every first down. When it is time to get conservative (such as being inside the Bengal 30 in the second half with the chance to put up a 9 point lead with a FG) the Jets air it out (resulting in 2 senseless picks).

Does anyone remember a 2nd and 2? Reverses and cute running plays don't mean anything. Passing on first down out of a running formation would be a shocker. Time after time, Cotchery was single covered on first down, but Jones would get the hand off and gain a yard or two. Then the Bengals would double the receivers on 2nd and 3rd and long, making it hard for Favre to go down field. I'm sorry. The Jets won, but not becaue of the offense. The defense and return teams put them on a 40 yard field all day. That was the difference today.

The defense played well... My complaint is Sutton's lack of aggressiveness on 3rd down and 5 or more... He rushed 3 almost every time in that situation (Once he rushed 2 up the middle on the ball Perry dropped)-- If Fitzpatrick was more experienced, and we were playing a more competent team (which is just about all really) he would have sat back there, and shredded us. In this league, you can't expect 10-12 seconds of coverage-- it's not possible.

That being said, guys did execute today defensively...

As for offensively-- Schottenheimer has to throw out the 05/06/07 Jet playbook-- get the TE more involved, and think more vertical... Furthermore, running on the edges is not possible with this team. Everything has to go between the tackles...

Honestly, I'm just relieved to have this one over with!!!!

Can't stand the 3rd down 3-man pass rushes...

But overall a whatever...They did what they had to do to win, and have a helluva lot more work to put in this week.

It's nice to see TOTAL NET Yards for an opponent 171 yards, and only 7 points given up defensively.

The Jets won today for the same reason they lost in week 2 vs the Patriots.

    Field position.
