I'm actually for them dialing down the celebration crap. I think they should get excited, spike a ball.. maybe even shimmy a little. But the Chad Johnson, TO, Moss crap is way over the top, and it does have an effect on the youth leagues. It's about setting the example of sportsmanship. And football is not the WWF.
i watched that, its complete horse crap. thats cuz his QB has "Manning" on the back of his jersey. so.........endzone celebrations are restricted because football is a "team sport" yet lineman can get chop-blocked and qb's are to be "handled with care" like theyre fine china. if you dont like contact dont play football, otherwise go throw a baseball..........this shit is rediculous.
Chop blocks don't fall under the category of legal. QBs aren't looking in the DIRECTION of the guy hitting them. Yes, they need more protection. As far as the celebrations, there is nothing wrong with spiking the ball, or The Lambeau Leap. That's a celebration. Wiping the ball's "ass" is not a celebration. Neither is making a cell phone call. These guys ARE role models to the youth. Anyone remember a guy named Charles Barkley? He said "I am not a role model." He took a pounding for that comment, and deservedly so. Life is a bitch. This is the price of stardom. You are in the spotlight, and these kids want to be just like you when they grow up. I find it very hard to feel bad for a guy who makes $10M to play a game because he can't dance around like a jackass for 10 minutes for DOING HIS JOB. A WR's job is to score TDs! Can I do a celebratory dance every time I do my job? My favorite is the dumbass DEs who make a sack on the second string QB, with 1:25 left on the clock, down by 30, then prounce around like they made the biggest play of the game. That crap should be flagged too. It's just ridiculous.
Well thats taken the fun out of the game. Chad Johnson had some really funny celebrations that caused no offence , wheres the harm? And yeah celebrate after spiking the QB. I like my players with passion and as for a team sport it is and so are most of the celebrations.
