Don't worry, we all had to go through it. I think once a year we should just set up a program to educate the new posters on how much of a waste of time it is to take raiderjeaux's posts seriously at all.
The Raider man has nothing to get physched up for. His owner/gm and coach are not on the same page and Mr. Davis has lost it. They are a total mess so he needs to make himself feel better. Just igonore him and be glad we are not the Raiders. Yes, defense wind championships and its been a long long time since we had one the intimadated teams. That would the # 1 priority after spending all this dough. Stop the run and put pressure on the QB. Hurt people and take over games. You want to the stadium to rock? Forget Fireman Ed, hot chicks, the wave, scoreboard, you need sacks on 3rd down. How sick are you guys of standing up on 3rd down and wathcing the other team convert? Hell, I don't even bother anymore. You know why Shea rocked and the meadowlands in the early days. SACKS... PRESSURE. that' why.
Assistant: "Mr. Davis, you have a phone call" Davis: [picks up cat by scruff of neck and holds to ear] "Telephone!" *got this weird feeling that I've used this here before*
Can someone help me? Did the evolutionary process start with two monkeys fucking, raising a kid (or whatever you call two primates offspring), at about the age of 10 the kid is allowed to sleep in his own bed, eventually learns to eat banana's and berries, not his own feces. A few years later Monkeyboy gets hair in strange places, shuns the opposite sex to snap off to a wall sized Al Davis in his depends poster, after a year or two he learns precursory English and posts on another teams message board. Is that how Darwin dreamed it up??????????????
Back on topic.......... Been a long time since I have been this anxious to see a Jets defense. I can not remember a time since they had so many young exciting players. The big ifs (not in any order) that are already mentioned: 1.) Can Pace continue or improve his excellent play from last years? 2.) Can Jenkins be that monster 2-gapper that every successful 34 absolutely requires? 3.) Can Elam or Smith provide that needed S play across from Rhodes. 4.) Can the Jets get adequate CB play from their #2 CB. I think 1 & 2 & 3 are going to be either fine. The big worry is #4. Again if the Jets use the agressive style that they used in the second half of 2007 and use the rotation system for the front 3, look out this has the potential of a top 10 defense.
To address your points here....Weaker sked' or not, just base Jets performance against Pats' as a measuring stick. That usually tells alot. Also if you check my threads....You'll see that I have realized & have been mentioning that the OL is weak & needs to be addressed. My measuring stick for a good OL....3rd & 1; 3rd & 2; 3rd & 3...which o-lineman are Jets' running behind ? So now again, I ask you this question for this season & the answer is still who? Faneca? ...maybe, but I don't think so, Jets' need to upgrade Moore & in a hurry. Hopefully with OL coach Callahan on-board, the Jets' can correct this weakness.
Problems I see here are....If Jenkins goes down or even....who gives Jenkins a breather. Thats why I was upset with the 5th rd draft selection of QB Ainge & there was still NT available in the draft. Jets need to sign another big-body to back-up at NT. ALso where is the upgrades at DE's. I don't see that need being addressed. Jets' are making me wonder if they are clueless ???:breakdance:
I don't see no swiss-chesse, but there are still a few upgrades needed. Namely 2 starting DE's & a back-up NT. I like De's Ellis & Coleman as back-ups & not starters. I think Jets' can get by with what they have & with these 3 new pieces.
What u say is very true dude & I can admit it. The problem I have is why is it taking Tannenbaum & Mangini so long to see it ? I believe that Mangini is doing a decent job, but Tannenbaum needs to stick to the salarycap side of the front office & the Jets' need to hire a better football personnel person. Jets' defense is only like 3-4 players away from being very solid.
What I like about Jeaux is how our defense is questionable and how they haven't proven they can hold up or return to glory form. Questions their ability to fall back in coverage/pass rush, tackle, sack, etc. Yet he talks about his Raiders offense as Future Hall of Famers or Pro Bowlers. He refers to Jamarcus Russell (quite often) as a Future Hall of Famer/Pro Bowler, and Darren McFadden and Michael Bush as Future Pro Bowlers, and I'm sure Walker is somewhere up there too in his book. Someone should tell him that some of those players have yet to take a snap on the field first before he can start talking about other players who've proven themselves? Otherwise, if we stay with that line of "Jeaux-logic", technically our defense should be as good as their offense seeing how there's many questions looming around the players ability. But I'm sure Jeaux will say his offense will be much better than our offense AND defense put together, and how Al Davis will take Brady's AND Romo's girl from them and give him fellatio while the Commish of the NFL kisses his pinkie ring. Good ol' Jeaux.
I can't figure out which one of you knows less about football. It might be a tie. Although raiderjeaux actually trolls as himself.
Run N Gun, unfortunately, the NYJ have a lot of experience with this tactic. Our DL has had the ball shoved down past its tonsils on more than one occasion. In fact, this woeful process is actually chronic when it comes to NYJ defensive lines. The Raiders have made a living ramming it down NYJ esophaguses. The Redskins took three tight ends and a fullback and finished the game with this simplistic destruction strategy. And the awful Buffalo Bills did the dirty deed to us as well. If the defense of a team is not positively terrified when the opposing offense has their way with their slowest backs (I think Crockett was running a 5.1 forty when he was busy running over the NYJs the last time) wreaking havoc over your team's DL, and then your team's LBs, and then your team's DBs... They didn't have to even dodge to get 7 to 12 yards at a clip. The NYJ just handed it to them on a silver platter. Why do you think those teams substituted players during those runs? Only because they laughed themselves three-quarters to death, and their CS had to get them on the sidelines to pump them full of oxygen to get rid of the effects of the NYJ laughing gas. Before the NYJs, have you ever seen the Raiders rip off 14 running plays IN A ROW and still score a touchdown? Well, if I was on the receiving end of that, I would be scared it was happening to me again. That other team over that running it down your throat is very scary...and depressing.
That has been the most frustrating thing about this franchise since Parcell's departure. The inability to stop the run, at times has been agonizing. Hopefully w/ the addition of Jenkins, our 3rd year in a run defense friendly type scheme...and alot more size in the front 7, this should be a thing of the past.
