First of all, it was second and 1 or 2. Then, it was a run blitz, not a pass blitz. It was one of the worst offensive play calls I have ever seen. It was also a horrible play by Losman, who when nothing popped open immediately, should have thrown the ball away. Last, it was incredibly lucky that the play led to a TD. The defenders, including Ellis, risked not recovering the ball by not just falling on it. Yes it worked, but you need to fall on the fumble, not pick it up and run. Can you imagine if two Jets failed to fall on the ball and the Bills recovered?????

It was one of the most fortunate, lucky plays in Jet history. I'll gladly take it, but it was pure luck and pure stupidity by the Bills.

Actually, when I looked at the replay, it looked like Losman was trying to throw the ball away in desperation. Instead, it ended up as a fumble. Losman was hit in his hand, but didn't lose the control of the ball. Maybe it would have been better if he just tucked it in and took the sack instead.

Sutton has been setting that up for the last month and 57 minutes and 54 seconds of this game. The guy is outright brilliant. Nobody watching our tendencies could have seen that coming.

How many hours did he burn to figure out that Buffalo would call a roll out pass in that situation? You guys just don't get it the Jets didn't set up that play during the game that play by the D was set up over 2 years and 14 games. Sutton is the man.

Uhm, no it was 2nd and in between 5 and 6. And also, MOST run blitzes by safeties are run up the middle from in between the tackles.

I stand corrected. I just saw the replay. It was 2nd and 5, but it was still a run blitz.

TOTAL LUCK. He sent the kitchen sink because it was stop Lynch or go home and the idiot Bills called a pass and we were all over him.

This defense sucks, and will be the reason we either dont make the playoffs or lose in the playoffs. Teams like Den, Indi and NE will throw all over us and teams like Pitt, Tenn will run all over us just like Buffalo did today.

The Bills had not scored a TD in 10 quarters and we let them put up 27 on us. Every week a bad team or very average player has a career day on us, its plain and simple, we were lucky to win the game but this defense flat out sucks. Bottom 10 of the league no question about it - no pass def, avg to bad run def and no pressure = shit D. Thats the truth gents, face it.

Our game is now can you score more than the opponent does in a shootout? So we pin it on Favre, Jones, Cotch, Coles, Washington and hope when the final whistle sounds our O put 30+ up because that is what our d is going to give up.

That's what I was thinking about Elam's blitz. Could Sutton have figured that the Bills were going to throw it, or was it just an odd run stopping blitz?

so you're saying sutton foreshadowed the bills passing on 2nd dwn with the game well in hand? i seriously doubt that buddy. elam was just sent as the 8th man to try to "stop" the bills running game.

Shit, he had been setting the Billls up for that back when he was coaching at West Point. Somebody call Canton and tell them to clear some space next to V. Lombardi's plaque because a new coaching genius needs to be enshrined there. All hail Sutton! :breakdance:

it was the bills using that aggressive playcalling the announcers had been talking about all game. they had nothing to lose so they thought maybe they could get a td on a play action and knock a division rival out of the playoffs. they got greedy, and the jets capitalized with a great play. the dumb move to pass helped, but we cant take any credit away from the defense for coming up huge after having a stinker of a game.

Boy, we sure did get lucky that Elam laid a great hit on Losman to knock the ball loose.

Sutton and great call can't happen. The laws of Magnetism don't allow that to happen

Let's put it this way. If Sutton makes 3-4 more calls like that during the course of the game, we probably wouldn't need a big play in that situation. So, it was more desperation and luck than actually being a good call. Sutton was forced to go against his shitty passive tendencies and looked what happened.

Surprise, surprise, you pressure the QB you get turnovers.

Mangina talked about it in his press conference. He said that Buffalo will do 2 things in that situation, run right or QB roll left, either way a blitz off the end is a good call in those situations.

There was a great chance Bills were going to pass. There were only six seconds left before the two minute warning. Even if the pass was incomplete, the time would have stopped at the two minute warning. If u run, it will stop, if u throw and complete, it would stop. So Bills decided to gamble a little and tried to put a dagger in the Jets season...it failed, we won, they suck...and so does sutton
