One thing that gets lost here is that Moss has been quoted as saying that the best QB he's played with is Penny. Pennington has a comfort level with him and Moss is certainly a very nice complement to Coles and Cotch. We haven't had a tall receiver since Keyshawn. That said, some team's going to pay a 3rd rounder for him (they're not releasing him) given all the cap space teams have and it's not going to be us.
How do you figure? What team has Randy Moss single handidly destroyed? Show me a season where Randy Moss' attitude made his team have a bad attitude, and lead to losses. Oh, and prove it too. Thanks.
Here are my reasons to get moss 1. Has anyone seen any jet be a consistent deep threat since wesley walker. I am talking 85 yd td's. 2. Moss is knowwhere near as destructive as TO 3. The guy has had no major injuries i can remember... yes he is almost 30 but i am sure he still runs a 4.3... the guy was clocked at 4.1 if i remember correctly. He displays it on the filed as well unlike coles. 4. the price for him will be very low for a talent like this.... so what we lose an eric smith in the 3rd round. 5. lastly i believe mangini can motivate him...I am sure he doesn't want to end his career like this.
I don't see why we would go out an add to what is already a strength for the Jets. Sure a deep threat woud be nice but it probably more important to strengthen the ground game before improving on what is already a well above average receiving corps. The only way I could endorse a move like this is if we could somehow get McCareins off of our books.
are you talking about moss or penny?hmy: i say if you want to keep penny, and he vouches for moss, then you try to get moss. at a cap friendly cost, of course.
Well, I've been on "NO to MOSS" side for a while, but on a flipside, it just might work. His cap number would be the biggest obstacle - no way any team pays him $10 mil/year deal (unless they are Raiders.) If that can be resolved, and if McCareins can be dumped, it is very viable option, it seems.
Nice post Mezz and I like the Dillion comp. The Pats were all ready an established SB team when they brought Dillion in and it was really pretty low risk. As nice a year as we had, this team has a big rebuild still to do before it's a legit SB contender. While it appears we have major cap room, the fact that the cap went up is going to inflate salaries all around. It isn't the room you have it's your room vs every one elses, plus what you need and how tied up your own quality players are. I think this team needs help on the OL, DL, LB, CB and RB before we address another WR. If Moss has truly matured, has all the money in the world he needs and wants to come real cheap, that would be a different story. I'm betting money is going to factor in big time and the question is how much do you risk on his maturity vs. the other needs this team cleary has?
