the jets are a jekyl and hyde type team...could run away with the rams game or it could be a real dog fight. it really depends on which uni they wear
No need to be all stressed out jets will win by shutting there O down mark my words. If not im out 500 large
Not sure which team you are talking about... 2000 Week 15: Jets 7, Oakland 31 (9-5) Week 16: Jets 7, Detroit 10 (9-6) Week 17: Jets 20, Baltimore 34 (9-7) 2001 Week 16: Jets 9, Buffalo 14 (9-6) 2002 Week 15: Jets 13, Chicago 20 (7-7) 2004 Week 17: Jets 29, St Louis 32 (10-6) 2006 Week 14: Jets 13, Buffalo 31 (7-6) Lots of games the Jets should have won, but didn't.
A win in any of those three games and the Jets make the playoffs, too. Don't forget that. Man, that was awful. DbJ made my point. These are the Jets, people. And this is a textbook trap game. Sorry, but my math tells me 2 + 2 = 4.
The worst case scenario here is the Jets absolutely slaughter the Rams and get far too giddy and next week get their ass handed to them by the Pats.
I know the feeling. But for some reason I think they come out prepared and play well today. I am hoping the loss to Oakland followed by the crap game they played against KC got the SOJ moments out of the way for the time being. i think there are some leaders on the team this year such as Jenkins who are keeping everybody focused.
Honestly, I agree this is the definition of trap game, but as many have said, we have had our nightmare letdown game against Oakland already. Also these aren't the "same ol' Jets" anymore. We have a monster with Jenkins, a QB who is actually a threat to score from anywhere on the field, we have a lockdown corner in Revis, we have a special teams nightmare in Leon, we have a better than capable workhorse in Jones, our OL is better than it has been in years, and potentially better than some of the Mawae lines... On top of what we have, how about what the Rams don't have? Steven Jackson, one of their two legit offensive threats this year. They dont have any sort of Run defense, and are ranked 28th against the pass. they only have two potential chances to win this game, and both involve long bombs to Donnie Avery at least twice. Something I doubt will happen, and even if it does, I think our Offense will put up more than 21 today.
The Rams oline has been nothing special this year either (Is O.Pace playing on Sunday)...the Jets pass rush should eliminate Marc Bulger from this game....my only concern would've been Bulger checking down to S.Jackson on screen plays..but since Jackson is out....the Jets should have this one in the bag.
Jackson out helps, but I seem to remember another Rams game in which Marchall Faulk was out, and the Jets blew it, giving up 192 yards to Trung Canidate. Most of you know me well enough to know I'm no darksider, but I can't shake this feeling of an oncoming train, and my foot is stuck in the tracks...
ah yes..i remember that game..and Trung Canidate. But wasn't that a road game for us? And wasn't their an offensive wizard (Martz) calling the plays back then for the rams? I understand your concerns, Tones....but that was a different Rams team. The one that's coming to the meadowlands today isn't on the same level. I'm not saying this will be a cake walk (that phrase isn't in the Jets' vocabulary)...but i believe this is a very winnable game with the edge clearly on our side. IMO.
One of the things that troubles me is the assumption that the rams will have no running game b/c Jackson is out. Obviously losing your #1 guy hurts, but that 4th stringer who is suddenly getting a shot will be running like his life depends on it. I know there is a reason he's a 4th stringer, but if he's on an NFL roster, he's got to have some skill. Add in the fact that we have limited film on him, etc. If there is one thing I've learned over the years is that you just never know. It is not beyond the realm of possibility that this kid comes out and surprises with a good game. I just hope our run D doesn't take him lightly nd plays with the same intensity they have against more established runners.
Defenitly a valid point...good post. However...both Antonio Pittman and Travis Minor (the #2 and #3 HB's on the Rams depth chart) are both questionable for this game with injuries (one of them has a concussion). So neither of the Rams' other HB options will be at 100%...plus...the Rams o-line is one of the worst in the league. On paper...it looks like the Jets D should have a field day....but after seeing what happened against the Raiders/Chiefs in recent weeks...anything can happen....but that's NFL football, boys. I still believe the Jets will win this game...i don't care if it's by 1 point or 40 points.
