Im just excited about next year already.... We have ALOT of young players with alot potential and a season like this can only make our coaches and players stronger. Entering next season we will have... A possible franchise LT in Ferguson and a future Pro Bowl type center in Mangold starting on the Offesnive line, who will both be entering the season as 3rd year started with alot of growing pains left beihind. The two most important position on the O-Line are filled for the next 10 years not counting possible injuries. A Young QB in Kellen who has started most of this season without the reps needed in Training camp and preseason to build that Chemestry with the WR's and O-Line. Next year Kellen will have a full offseason to work with the coaches, WR's, TE's, O-Line, and the RB's during training camp and preseason... Not to mention a better feel for the speed of the game and a better feel for the players around him. This season he threw more INT's than TD's... But he survived and looked great at times. A season like this can only make a young QB stronger for the future... Yes he made some mistakes, but this offseason and during next season he will have his chance to correct his mistakes as a 3rd year player, 2nd year starter and improve on the progress he has made as a young Quarterback. I can go on and on... We will compete next season. Revis and Harris will be 2nd year starters, Rhodes will be in his 3rd year starting as our play maker in the secondary... Who knows, we may even bring in A.Samuels and or T.Suggs and draft D.McFadden
True, I've got more but I probably could have come up with better examples. How about something like the Combine? Sounds to me like sayuki would think a workout warrior is going to be a fantastic NFL player because of his bench press or his 40-time. Colt Brennan should have won the Heisman I would think because of his numbers. I guarantee not many others would agree with you.
I did web search for colt brennan numbers and teabow and I find that teabow had better numbers so that is why he won award. you see, it is all about numbers just like life. the more numbers you have the better life you live. numbers i mean money. or it can be how much you weight. or how strong you are. numbers mean everything, so please get them right.
I agree. This team has tons of potential and that's why I'm so sick of hearing fire this guy, cut this guy, trade this guy. As is such a famous quote on this board, this isn't Madden. Teams grow together and build chemistry. No one player is bigger than the team. If there's anything we should learn from the Patriots, it's that. Give this team time, bring in a few guys, they'll start getting some wins. We lost to an undefeated team by 10 points in a game and people are calling for a complete overhaul.
Even then, context matters. (At this point I get what you're saying and that you're addressing Sayuki's purely numbers standpoint, but I have to vent my NFL statistical analysis frustrations) True statistical analysis must be given some context. Brennan can't win the context not because of his pure numbers...but because his team isn't a serious contender for national champs...because the system he's in amplifies QB stats... And workout warriors...Ware, Merriman, and Mario (especially Ware and Mario) are 3 of the biggest workout warriors in NFL history... Iunno...I honestly think statistical analysis just needs a place in the NFL but most fans seems to just throw them out period.
I can't share your enthusiasm. We're a 6-win team next year, at best. My big fear is that we have dropped below the Bills, and my football watching enjoyment will be limited to seeing the Pfinz and the Raiders suck the life out of Miami and Oakland, respectively.
(a) I disagree with you saying Colt Brennan's #'s are worse. He missed two games and I think put up better #'s. And please bring passer rating into this discussion as having better #'s, because that is the most meaningless statistic in football. (b) This conversation ends now as I think your perspective on life is completely distorted and this is going nowhere. Just to note, I don't think your wife and kids appreciate (or will appreciate) that you think money is more important than them. Happiness means a better life, not money. Ask BIG. He'll let you know what mo' money does.
How can jets be 6-9 if we will play 16 games? you are saying that jets will be out of one game or will only play 15???? or two rest days instead of one?:breakdance: :breakdance:
You can throw Tony Mandarich in that mix as well. Can't miss prospect who was a workout warrior. I agree completely about the system, but that's my point. I agree that there's a place for them, but they clearly don't tell everything. I see no reason to say that it's the end all be all is what I'm saying. You need to take the objective with the subjective and form an opinion on a lot of things you come across in life.
Ha, if that's what you want to call it, I'll let ya have it! But seriously, from a concerned member of this board, please rethink your theories on a better life and happiness. I'm not sure what you do for a living or what (or if you're still in school), but I wish you the best of luck in getting the money that you want. But please, don't think that money's going to make you happy. There's a lot more to live for than money.
Again I must reply. if numbers do not matter, what is purpose of statistics??? if numbers in wealth do not matter, what is point to try and make many money?? you have to understand before you can say that numbers mean anything. everyone judge sports player by numbers. no one will remember quarterback if he does not have big number. they talk about brett farve today because he pass biggest number in throwing ever in american football. this is why numbers count more. you are wrong to say it does not.
I don't discount the fact that numbers mean something. I'm an engineer for God's sake...I think I'd get fired if I said that haha. But numbers have their place. This all goes back to if the point makes sense, then the numbers don't mean anything. You can go back to my original argument, substitute 13-0 for 12-0, and say, yeah it makes sense. If you disagree with my comments altogether, that's a different story. But I guarantee you don't disagree with my statement because I said 12-0 instead of 13-0. We clearly have two different philosophical views of money. Don't get me wrong. I like money. It's nice having a steady paycheck now that I'm out of school. But there are a lot of things more important to me, like my family, my girlfriend, my friends, eventually having a family of my own. All these things mean a ton more to me than any dollar amount. Is it nice to get money? Yes. But money to me is neither an end nor a means to an end.
Ha, I'm sorry! My mistake...poor assumption on my part. See? To me that's a MUCH bigger mistake than 13-0 vs. 12-0.
This is very surprised because american culture is about money! everyone like to spend a lot. in japanese culture we save a lot of money and we like numbers because sometime it can be more important than family. this is so because if family does not have money it cannot survive.
