OK ladies and gents, let's put some meat on the bones. Anyone who wants to join us on Saturday, please let me know if there is anything you want to see, or any pubs you've heard of you want to visit. If not I'll sort some pubs near some attractions, so we've got the option. Looks like JetsVilma is the only one to express a preference of starting at 2-30 to 3pm. Happy to go with that or start earlier if people want. Let me know. Seems like Sunday we can be left to our own devices, but it would perhaps be nice to meet in the Globe as suggested above for a few before the game (unless we are all sick of the sight of each other ) So let me know...what do you wanna see...you have until Saturday night, I'm gonna get to work on it on Sunday.
I would suggest we do the Fan Rally in Trafalgar Square first. Last one started at 12:00 noon ended 4:00PM. Google nfluk and click on events. After that I'm game for any pub within stumbling distance...
Probably show up fashionably late to this... and then stumble to whatever tavern/pub ppl are stumbling to.
Happy to hit Trafalgar Square for a while. Nearer the time if NFLUK publish timings of events we could make sure we're there for any Jets stuff (I expect it'll be Dolphins themed as they are the 'home' team). I'll begin our tour at a pub near Trafalgar Sqaure.
I'll be there 10/1-10/5. What all events other than the trafalgar gathering are there? I'm flying from Denver....who in UK can get me weed? Lol
How bout the "Ship and Shovel"? See that the food service closes at 4:00PM so we could do the Fan Rally Noon then show up there 2:00PM to 3:00PM for some Pies and Ales?
So from a longlist of 36 pubs, a shortlist of 20, I have got us down to a manageable 12, looking to have a half in each. I've chosen old pubs with character, a story behind them, and central to London. I've also tried to avoid repetition of breweries were possible to give you all a range of beer. Being in Central London I'll also try to work out walking routes that pass some sights...although this is about the drinking, first! Using the fan rally at Trafalgar Square as the starting point, the pubs are all in walking distance. I will work out when and where we start once (or if) NFL UK post up the timings of events to make sure we see some (any) Jets related stuff. They'll be a bit of walking to get from one group of pubs to another, just so you know. I assume those who have commented in here about the pubs will join us...I think that means Royal Tee, JetsVilma, GreenFan15J, BBombers1985 for sure. Not sure about rohirrim665 (you've said you'll be in attendance, not sure if you mean the drinking or just the match), Yorkshire Jet, Daniel Morton and AmericaninLondon. Let me know. Finally, this is not like a journey to Wally World, we don't have a schedule to stick to, people can drop in or out as they see fit...I can guarantee that myself and my mate will see it through to the end though...and then grab food somewhere for the evening...before finding another pubs to finish the night in.
Unfortunately, I cannot partake since I'll be heading to the Chelsea match. We should try to coordinate a Sunday pre game meetup!
I reckon Sunday meet up should be at the Globe as suggested by Daniel Morton. Big place and easy to find. We can confirm a time nearer the day.
Cool. General idea is to hit the fan rally at about 12ish... Maybe an hour or two, depends on what's going on. Then on to the Ship and Shovel for beer and pie. After that, probably the Chandos, but I'll sort that once we know what the fan rally offers. For example, if there is Jets stuff at 3pm we'll change tack. I'll post up by Monday what we'll do for sure.
Post game, I would recommend getting to a nearby ASAP, for the Ireland/Italy World Cup Rugby match will be on.
Might be heading to a club Sat night... Toolroom bash going on . I'm still in but will be definitely allocating my time! lol can't wait!
Yes, they do. And being an Ireland fan, an Ireland drubbing of Italy would be the hopeful ending to a hopeful perfect day.
