exactly. and if we bring in a new coaching staff to go with him (cough, cowher, Cough) this could work out beautifully.

Imagine Mangini intentionally throws the game to sabatoge the Pats chances of getting in .. Haha .. Luckily his job is on the line, and the pats and buff play the exact same time .. crazy theory i know ..

Maybe... the Jets-Dolphins could be the night game. San Diego-Denver is another option...

Yeah, let's sign him and ruin the career of yet another promising young QB. With this coaching staff, getting the next Joe Montana wouldn't make a difference.

The most valuable commodity in the NFL is a good QB. Do you really think the Pats are going to let him go for nothing? They franchise him, see how Brady recovers, if brady is fine they trade Cassell and if not they play him.
Go Jets. I'll be rooting for them for the first time since Joe Willie was in the Super Bowl. Only Jets fans can be disappointed in what may be a 5 game improvement.

Unless Cassel comes with Moss and Welker, he won't be effective.

    Come on, people.

There are specific rules about franchising a player. And the number 1 rule is you cannot franchise a player with the intension of trading him. Jared Allen had to sign off on it last year.

Why would Cassel allow the Pats to do this? Then they would control where he ends up instead of going where he feels is the best situatuion.

BTW, you and I would be quite upset if the Pats lost out on the playoffs by losing to teh Raiders, 49ers, and Seahawks.

My only fear with signing a guy like cassel.. hes a rpoduct of good coaching as our team is a product of awful coaching. he would be expected to be a savior and if we don't fire mangini, this kid will be ruined like mangin has done to allot of careers...

Please God, replace the coach first and let the new coach choose his QB.

Agreed . . . let's focus on getting a coaching staff that can mold a young QB with potential and let them work with Clemens and Ratliff who Bellicheck would undoubtedly turn into stars if either one was on the Pats.

are you all crazy? name me one successful Patriot that was good after he left (since Belicheck, dont bring up Curtis Martin or anything):

    -Crennel - no
    -Weis - no
    -Branch - no
    -Mangini - no

NO to Cassell. Has he had a very good year...of course.

Does it hurt that he's got one of the best lines in the game, plus Moss & Welker. Obviously.

Would he put up the same #'s on the Jets or other bottom feeding team. NO. (is this a fact...NO, just opinion and sticking to it). Unless he comes with the o-line and moss/welker, let him sit on pats bench or play elsewhere.

    Thomas Dimitroff.

    Valid point, though.
