If I am ever going to be abducted by an alien, please let it happen within the next two weeks.

The only remedy is to focus on next season. Where the Patriots go 0-19 and the Jets beat the combined forces of the Phins, Pats, Bills and Giants in Super Bowl XL-motherfucking-III

  3. I'm beginning to think the Patriots are gonna win the next 10 super bowls...

That's how bad football has gotten.

I’ve been watching the Mets / Jets religiously since 85 (I layed off baseball after the strike for a few years but don’t think I’ve missed a quarter of football)…and I’m pretty sure that this seasons level of horribleness (for both teams) coupled with the success of the teams and players I completely despise, will ultimately lead to my retirement as a sports fan; I’ve got no more left to give.

Problem is – I don’t do anything in my life half way whether it’s actually participating in something or just being a fan – it’s all out; so when I hear people say “don’t take it so personally…it’s just a game” I could punch them.

I don’t say this to be a cocky asshole but I’ve participated in allot of sports and activities over the years and it’s a rare occurrence that I’m not one of the best or the best at whatever it is that I’m doing. Why? Because I’m extremely competitive by nature and winning is everything; winning is fun, not participating like losers say. Wanting to win translates to everything I do – whether it’s a sport, work, building or fixing something or me and my friends just ate a bunch of tacos and want to see who takes the longest deuce.

After allot of deep though realize that one the main problems is that as a fan, you contribute absolutely nothing to the teams that you live and die with other than the owners and players bottom line; further, MOST of the players you cheer so passionately for couldn’t give a shit as long as their check clears…they’re a bunch of Manny Ramirez “who cares if we lose – it’s just a game” jokers.

I’ve all but decided to move on; I’ve been dicking around on the weekends since football ended a few weeks ago looking for the next thing to dedicate my passion and loyalty to…I’m going to get a set of golf clubs (although I’ve never had any interest what so ever in doing so) and give that a try. My brother is a local golf / pool hustler; I’ll get a few pointers. I’m also looking at boats…I’m surrounded by water so I may as well try fishing…and since I’m a biker - I’m actively searching for an old Harley Panhead to restore- got my eye on a 56 if I can pry it away from its owner. Dusted off my mountain bike two weeks ago, pumped up the tires and hit the trails (yes my ass hurt for a week)…who knows, maybe I’ll start running again and try running a marathon or something. If anyone has any good ideas…pass them on!

If I can find something over the next few months to fill the void that watching the loser Mets and loser Jets will leave, and never have to watch a single inning of baseball or quarter of football again I’ll be a happy man!

  5. I know exactly how you feel. I try not to analyze it too deeply but sometimes I just ask myself "Why can't we just win ONCE? Why do teams like the patriots who cheat, and fans talk trash..get rewarded w/ such immaculate success?". Perhaps it is just a game..but it doesnt appear to be fair sometimes.

My breakdown a month back was my attempt on giving up on sports. Unfortunately here I am..back for more. Desperate for even the SLIGHTEST taste of success. And I'm suffering as a result.

Hope you have better luck than me. I just cant lose my urge to compete and to see just ONE jets championship run before I die.

I never hated the Giants, and I can't not root for them since they're a New York team. It's New York vs Boston in the Super Bowl. I know where my loyalties lie.

You need to replace Manny Ramirez there with Tommy One Third Glavine. Glavine proved he is the ultimate couldn't care less player.

No kidding...I can't wait to see all of the bandwagon Sox/Pats fans at my school after the Patriots win (none of whom seem to even know who Bledsoe or Pedro are ).

Yankees: Made playoffs, but rivals won it all
Jets: Were terrible, looks like their rivals will win it all
    Knicks:
NY Rangers: Will probably make the playoffs but playing much worse than what they could be
    Leafs:
England National Team: Failed to qualify for the Euro championships

Let's hope 08 can be just a bit better

    What a scumbag

After that Saturday near no-hitter by Maine, I thought the Mets were on their way. Then that punk (who will always be a Brave, regardless of what uni he was wearing) puts together a performance that I will never forget.

He somehow had a worse performance than his first start as a Met.

Actually there is one thing I'm looking forward to this season: I'm going to the first game Glavine pitches at Shea so I can boo the hell out of that bum.

...bumping this zombie thread of horror. How is this fucking possible? It took until this season for me to accept that the Giants ending the Pats undefeated run was a good thing...and now this. Nothing to root for here. Watched the Super Bowl every year since 1985 but I'm taking this year off. Maybe I'll tune in at halftime and hope for a Madonna 85 year old nipple slip. Fuck football.

Worst case scenario. I can see why Jets fans in the NY/NJ area would be rooting for the Pats, but I can't. Rooting for the Giants followed by a series of power outages.

The 2011 NFL season was more miserable for me than the 2007 one.

    Three reasons why-
Jets had playoff hopes and shit the bed and greatly helped the Giants make the playoffs

I lost money playing fantasy football this season as opposed to 2007 when I won money

To save some money I passed on Sunday Ticket this season after 11 seasons with it. Most weeks not having it was not an issue but maybe a half dozen times I missed it.

    Fuck the NFL's 92nd season.

Well here we are again..here I am posting in a thread I posted in 4 years ago.

I'll be cheering for the Gints again.

I'm more excited about all the bets this time around.

Seriously??? Erase Super Bowl 3?? Different team, different era. Give credit to the Giants and realize that they played a few poor games. Seattle and Skins come to mind. They have proven that if you can get a pass rush with 4-5 down linemen you can win in big games. They can rush and pass the ball.

I am no fan of the Giants but I doubt they are ~16 point underdogs the way the Jets were in '69. Step away from the ledge...
